Without COVID-19 vaccine, the world would never get out of lockdown. Vaccine is the ONLY solution to this mess.
Who's got the time to wait 6-18 months? Since we're in such a dire strait, FDA will likely issue fast track approvals.
I'm fairly certain that's not how FDA works....unless you replace the heads w/patsies. Herd immunity is a thing. We'll have a pile of bodies to get there, or with enough testing for everyone, keep the curve fairly flat.
What, haven't you heard? This is a pandemic we're talking about. Under normal circumstance, yes, stringent rules would apply. But we ain't in a normal circumstance.
a vaccine still has to be deemed safe and needs to undergo clinical trials that require time. If you want to end up w/a vaccine that kills 10% of subjects and/or causes unknown irreparable medical conditions, sure have at it, I'd take my chances w/corona.
I'm sure there will be clinical trials. But it will be expedited. Hence, it will likely be shorter in length than "normal" trial period.
My money is on remdesivir, an antiviral drug. Just finished Phase 3 clinical trial in China today. Unfortunately it is double blind, quadruple masking (participant, care giver, investigator, outcome assessor) so no one knows the results/data until after unmasking and data analyzed. Data analysis will take a few weeks. But initial leak of the analysis should come out in a week or so.
Wow with all those willing to speed trial an unknown who needs the media to hype things. Talk about toilet paper run. "Here while I'm bent over stick it in me."
Do you want to get injected with who knows what without proper testing? Remember Vioxx, Fen-Phen, etc etc. Even with strict testing it takes years to find out what the side effects are. Unless you’re a high risk person, I wouldn’t get that Corona vaccine for a long time
You can't accelerate a people's reaction to medication. You can't expedite time itself.....not yet anyway. I'll likely pass on the 1st version....maybe 2 yrs I'll give it a shot. I'll take my chances as hospital capacity tapers back to normal.
