Universal Trend Trading

  1. For those who really have money to trade, you don't want to trade like this. Pay a little for a mentor, why waste all the time and money to lose 50% over 1 year.

I had a simple Forex setup that once was number 1 in a tracking site for over a year. You don't need a complicated setup to make money in Forex.

Here's a hint. The market trends 30% of the time, ranges 30% of the time, and is random 40% of the time. A system needs to take into account this information and not random trade.

  8. Yeah, it's been quite bad 12 months for trend following. The longest draw down for my strategy is 6 years, so I'm prepared for more.

Maybe you should listen to the moderator and stop wasting your time. The results show lack of basic understanding in this area and you are only hurting yourself while providing entertainment for the rest. Nobody is trying to hurt you here. Everyone is trying to help you. If you worked for a fund and you had this performance you would be escorted out of the building by security.

Why are you trading a strategy with 6 years drawdown? If this would be really a profitable strategy, you had to trade it about 20 years for a relatively safe profit.

Drawdowns seem to be inevitable on trend following strategies, but they are normally less than a year. The first half of 2011 was indeed no good for trend following, but since Spring 2011 TF makes good profit again:

This is a compound curve from several different trend following strategies. For some reason, TF is usually less profitable in the first half of a year.
