Universal Trend Trading

Discussion in 'Journals' started by luckyputanski, Aug 4, 2011.

  1. I know your strategy is not performing well, because it's not a real trend follower.

You aren't catching trades when they happen, and only after the fact. That is not trend following.

What a valuable insight. Thanks for stopping by, and providing the guru's perspective of why the man's system is not performing as planned.

  3. Whatever. Somebody that loses $300,000 because he believes in overanalyzing data needed better advice than believing the overfit parameters he's following.

Really. The past 2 years are the only datapoints that matter, and you're guilty of the same problem with your "trend following" model, too, Wide Taliz.

  5. You must not trade until you can identify trend changes when they happen. If you're never able to do that, then you shouldn't ever be trading.

Seriously, putanski could post charts of his "trend following" system, and it'd have the same obvious problems yours has.

Maybe I should just deposit all my money with a reputable manager instead. One who has a more advanced algo than I do.

  7. Yeah, you know which places I'd suggest for that.

PS: I'm not 45 years old yet.

Excuse me? What promoting did I do? You are not only a loser - 60% in just 8 months from initial equity - but also a malicious individual. On top of that you do not know how to count. How can an individual with no counting skills pose as a trader? You hate other successful people and you accuse anyone who tries another program of promoting it. I was in another thread where they talked about PAL, TSL and other programs. What is your problem? Is anyone who is talking about tradestation, amibroker, or any other program promoting it? Are you paranoid on top of being a loser? You should be ashamed of yourself. I have met some Polish people and I thought their IQ was above average. You are certainly a moron and a disgrace for your kind. I will give you a suggestion: try to become a better person and work harder. You will not appear better in life by trying to shut down others who have succeeded where you failed. I suspect you have many aliases in these threads and you being frustrated with your sh*ty performance you go around attacking and accusing other people. This can only lead you to a state of paranoia and eventual self destruction. With a 60% drop from initial equity in 8 months you should not be trading, you should not be talking, you should be hiding in a Polish garden with other mammals.

I actually use 10-50 years of weekly/yearly data, of course depending on when markets first started, but then I only want the trend to start After I get in. But I agree about trend trading, as many markets travel in 2-4 year cycles, buying near tops or selling near lows of when market rotation is near seldom makes for Happy Campers.
