Okay, I'll engage in a bit of speculation here, along with everyone else. There is now no doubt about the motive. This was probably not a professional hit. The killer probably has a family member who died while appealing a denial. The guy may have some professional level experience, e.g., ex-military, or just got himself some serious training to prepare himself for this. The consensus seems to be that he knew what he was doing, notwithstanding the malfunctioning firearm. He killed his target and he successfully escaped from the scene without being apprehended, despite the malfunctions. This is not a soccer mom whose boyfriend took her to the range a few times, and then she snapped when they denied her daughter's lukemia treatment, so she went and got the gun out of the garage. This guy probably spent months preparing for this. The engraved casings clearly indicate that he wanted the world to know why Thompson was killed. So: Either this guy thinks he is professional enough that he actually expects to get away with murder, and he might actually get away with it, unless he makes, or has already made, a critical mistake, or... He doesn't expect to get away with it. He planned an escape from the scene of the crime because he wants a little time to play the authorities and the insurance companies, watch the media orgy from somewhere other than a county jail, and somehow get his story out. If it is the second scenario, then my guess is that this will become one of those cases where the guy negotiates surrender by contacting a journalist.
the point is the health insurance business model is broken. they don’t own or run hospitals, they don’t research drugs, they don’t train new young doctors. why would anyone pay them a fee each month and not certain it will get reimbursed when needed. while they have record profits each year.
They've got his entire face, smiling at the local FourBucks. NYPD has identified him but hasn't released his info.
"From watching the video, it does appear he is proficient in the use of firearms, as he was able to clear the malfunction pretty quickly," said NYPD Chief Joseph Kenny." He's got a chance with this idiot running the show.
