So what happened? Did they flat-out refuse to provide care?

Or did you have to pay out of pocket? Did they bill you, or did they make you pay at the time of service? Did you eventually get the care paid for by submitting a claim or an appeal?

There is a federal law that says you cannot be denied care in an emergency, even if you have no insurance and cannot pay for it out of pocket.

they billed me and i negotiated a heavy discount, like 80% off from the bill. but it is still more than a co-pay should be.

if he didn't use a stolen credit card they would have a prime suspect by now (which they might).

    he didn't use a citibike:

The suspect first fled on foot before getting on a bike. Tisch initially said the suspect used an electronic Citi Bike to get away, but Lyft said the NYPD later told the company, which owns and operates Citi Bike, that was not the case. Police are attempting to track the suspect through video canvass, Kenny said. A spokesperson for Lyft had previously said the company was "ready to assist" with the investigation.

They wouldn't go public this soon unless he was in custody.

Yeah, idealogue. Clearly used a PCC suppressor. I wonder if he used one of the mail order cans that arrive as "solvent traps" which would explain a lot. Definitely family history there (with UNH).

A relative of mine received SpA immunopheresis for HUS (Mitomycin chemo) at UWash and it was 2-3 treatments over months. UNH paid out like a mil on SpA in the late 90s. No way that they would approve SpA now.

If he's smart, he would be using cash and get out of US to a country that does not have extradition treaties with the USA and then just hide out for the rest of his life. With only half of the face, will see how they can catch him. Even if he's caught, his lawyer is going to argue hell of this being circumstantial evidence.
