Exactly what I stated should never happen with airlines UA's CEO now pledged to uphold:

Cited from within an FT article : "Mr Munoz has since promised the airline will never again eject a passenger who has paid for a ticket and is already seated, as the company sought to draw a line under a public relations crisis. The chief executive told ABC’s Good Morning America television programme on Wednesday: “This can, this will, never happen again on a United Airlines flight. That’s my premise, that’s my promise.

So, that was my main concern, how a seated passenger inside the plane can still be asked to vacate the seat. I am sure the shitstorm community will keep a close eye on UA and the CEO's promises shall be remembered.

One of the new tagline for United Airlines. This is one of the comments posted below a Youtube video. I thought it was just hilarious.

Well according to this most recent press conference called by the doctor's attorney, those Airport Security personnel who did the dragging should've been NEVER called and should've never stepped onto that plane in the first place. Their training clearly stated to them that they are ONLY supposed to interfere when lives of passengers' lives and safeties are in jeopardy. The fact that they stepped onto that plane was violation of standard procedures. And furthermore even if there was life-threatening or dangerous crisis happening on that plane, it was supposed to be Chicago Police that's supposed to be called NOT Airport Security. So even without this "promise" by that CEO, the violence that we witnessed should've NEVER happened.

  4. Calgary man stung by scorpion on United Airlines flight:

United Airlines is in hot water again after a scorpion fell out of an overhead bin and stung a Canadian passenger on Sunday — the same day a man was forcibly removed from a United flight in Chicago.

Calgary residents Richard and Linda Bell were eating lunch on the flight from Houston, Texas, when the scorpion fell onto Richard’s head.

The couple was returning home to Alberta via Houston after spending two weeks on vacation in Mexico.

Bell felt something hit his head and reached up to grab it, said his wife.

“I was holding it by the tail,” Bell said, “and the guy next to me told me, ‘That’s a scorpion!’ I didn’t realize what it was because there are not that many of them running around Calgary.”

Bell dropped the scorpion onto the tray in front of him, and as he was trying to grab it again, the creature stung him in the thumb. He said he threw it onto the floor and stomped on it.

“It felt like a wasp sting, but with a bigger surface area. It hit my nail more than my skin,” said Bell. “I was pretty calm the whole time. I grew up on a farm and had all kinds of things happen to me.”

Linda said she felt less calm. “It was the scariest time in my life, sitting there for that hour, watching if he’d have symptoms,” she said. “We have two kids at home.”

The incident occurred the same day as another event that made international headlines, when a passenger was dragged off an overbooked United flight in Chicago. United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz later issued a public apology for the removal of Kentucky physician David Dao, who was dragged from his seat by police, his face bloodied.

On Bell’s flight, the scorpion was removed by flight attendants and flushed down the toilet — which proved to be a problem once the Bells began searching online to find out whether the scorpion was venomous, because they couldn’t identify exactly what it looked like.

Richard said his thumb went numb, but the symptoms didn’t worsen. A nurse on board gave him some Benadryl, Linda said.

In a statement, United Airlines said the crew consulted a MedLink physician on the ground and that medical personnel met the aircraft when it landed in Calgary. They also said they had reached out to the customer to apologize.

Linda Bell said border patrol officers also investigated the incident and were frustrated that the scorpion had been flushed away, because it could not then be identified. She is unsure where the scorpion came from, but said that the flight had arrived in Houston from Costa Rica before it flew on to Calgary.

According to Linda, three United Airlines representatives had reached out to her husband, but it took them some time to get hold of him because he had switched seats with another passenger, and United had called the other man first.

Linda Bell said her husband flies with United often and will continue to do so, noting the airline gave him a travel credit.

Well, at least the guy didn't suffer any serious consequences from the scorpion sting. Some of these creatures are relatively harmless, some are deadly, he lucked out to have happened upon the relatively harmless variety, apparently.

  6. Maybe United can turn it into a plus by advertising that their scorpions are harmless, so everyone lucks out. Lemons into lemonade.

  8. I wonder if this video will hurt the doctors chances of getting a settlement. 15 seconds in, the doctor gives police permission to drag him down the aisle. Says "You can then drag me..."

Bride, groom who asked for upgrade kicked off United flight in Houston on their way to get married

A bride and groom were kicked off their United Airlines flight from Houston this weekend as they traveled to Costa Rica for their wedding.

Amber Maxwell and Michael Hohl of Park City, Utah, had flown from Salt Lake City to George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Saturday and had a connecting flight to Liberia, Costa Rica.

Hohl told KHOU-TV that he and his bride-to-be were the last people to board United Flight 1737.

He said a man was lying — asleep — across their assigned seats, so they sat in a pair of seats three rows closer to the front of the half-full cabin.

"We thought not a big deal, it's not like we are trying to jump up into a first-class seat," Hohl told the station. "We were simply in an economy row a few rows above our economy seat."

A flight attendant then told the couple to move to their assigned seats, which they did after asking for an upgrade and being told no, Hohl said.

But then, Hohl said, a law-enforcement officer asked them to get off the plane because the crew said they were "being disorderly and a hazard to the rest of the flight."

He told KUTV-TV that they cooperated because video of Dr. David Dao being dragged off a United Express plane April 9 was fresh in their minds.

In a statement, United said the couple repeatedly tried to sit in upgraded seats.

"These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats," the airline said.
