United Airlines to give $8M to help hub cities United Airlines announced May 30 that it will give $8 million in grants to “help address pressing issues identified by local leadership” in its U.S. hub markets. In addition to its home base of Chicago, United’s other hub markets are Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Newark/New York and Washington, D.C. United expanding local service from San Francisco to Pittsburgh One marker of Pittsburgh's growing tech scene is the increasing number of flights between the Steel City and Silicon Valley. On Wednesday, United Airlines announced it was expanding service between Pittsburgh and San Francisco for the second consecutive year.
