Unemployed people kill themselves at around two-and-a-half times the rate of those in work

Your analysis is flawed, or whatever study you pulled that from. I notice that conspicuously absent from your statistics are Air Traffic Controllers. I guess we can glean that ATC is less stressful than farmers, pharmacists and dentists?

It is almost criminal. If that is a scientific study with proper control, I will eat your hat.

Why, you think a lot of murders get counted as suicide or some other issue? Oh, and what exactly do you see wrong with the BLS (not the Fed, FYI) unemployment report?

It's not my analysis as if I looked at raw data and then computed my own analysis or research. Its statistical work by those that have access to the data and they then reported their rates to whom ever...just to be clear.

Different groups in the top lists depending upon the study.

Simply, the studies below do not list Air Traffic Controllers. Yet, I do remember seeing a different list (not below) that has Air Traffic Controllers among the top 5.

Therefore, not flawed nor my analysis....also a bit strange that you consider it "almost criminal"...never heard of that before.

Here's the study done by different groups. As you can see...the groups on the lists do in fact change while you'll see common professions like Doctors, Pharmacists, Farmers, Dentists on most lists.

By the way, I've also notice the military not listed on many lists while listed on a few. Once again, its not my analysis nor my statistics. Yet, there's another study that list specific professions in the military that have high suicide rates. Those list correlate with many of the above professions.

Yet, more common among "veterans" than "active duty" or "reserves".

Well it is right for them to be scrutinized. Our lives depend on it. Misreading the doctor's prescription is a huge deal. I am glad you were Ok. If they weren't sure, all they needed to do is ask your condition to make sure the medication given is really for treating the condition or make up the phone and simply ask the doctor. Then he/she would've found out his/her error.

You are supposed to hold yourself to a high standard of excellence and perfectionism making sure that every single thing that comes out of your hands is 100% accuracy and to the highest standards of quality. That used to be the norm that people pride themselves on excellence and meticulousness and prudence, now that's put down as being a sticker and is laughed at and ridiculed at. Everybody is going for faster and more quantity. Quality? That's the consumer's problem. If I have to be a bit careful, OMG!!! The stress!! I just have to make sure I give the correct medication, with the correct dosage according to a piece of paper and if I can't read it, I just need to call to verify or ask the patient to verify. OMG!!! The stress!!!

I would think the occupation that should have one of the highest level of suicide should be daycare teachers. LOL Watching over 20 screaming and crying disgusting kids 8 hours a day should drive anybody to jump out of the window but surprisingly that occupation is not on the list. LOL

  8. Disgusting kids...lol!

Having kids is by itself a suicide.

Nothing wrong in suicide in general I think. If your becoming nonfunctional why not using that option and nullify yourself.

I may commit suicide one day. I'm open to the notion of choosing my time of death.

It’s also a breeding ground for terrorism. Muslim extremism in France, US white nationalism: it feeds on people with too much time and are bitter that they can’t get a job or get a job they want.
