Maybe we could start with Manhattan. We could give them Manhattan and they could give us back our $26. A United Nations investigator probing discrimination against Native Americans has called on the US government to return some of the land stolen from Indian tribes as a step toward combatting continuing and systemic racial discrimination. James Anaya, the UN special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, said no member of the US Congress would meet him as he investigated the part played by the government in the considerable difficulties faced by Indian tribes. Anaya said that in nearly two weeks of visiting Indian reservations, indigenous communities in Alaska and Hawaii, and Native Americans now living in cities, he encountered people who suffered a history of dispossession of their lands and resources, the breakdown of their societies and "numerous instances of outright brutality, all grounded on racial discrimination". http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/may/04/us-stolen-land-indian-tribes-un
I kind of agree with giving "some" of the land back to the Indians...we can start with that shit hole on the East Side...where the UN sits....give that land back to the Indians and send the assholes in the UN packing to Europe or wherever they are wanted! -g
This is part of Agenda 21: a UN plan for "sustainable economic development". One problem with it (amongst many) - it seeks to cordon off huge tracts of rural and suburban land from development, by any means necessary. It's usually justified within the rubric of 'protecting the environment'. In this case, it's 'reparations for Indians'. The UN wants something like 70-80% of all territory in America off-limits to any sort of human development. In Canada, 89% of the land is held by the Government on behalf of the Queen. Not for sale.
As already mentioned, we should start by giving back the land the UN building is sitting on. Wouldn't that be hilarious?
