I believe that there will be a lot of overblown hype about teachers getting sick but it really won't be that big of a deal. The media will just make it out to be.
I don't disagree that the media will make a bigger stink than it actually is. That's been part of the problem in the school reopening conversation to begin with. Irrational fear.
DC public schools to go virtual through at least November Bowser seemed to allude to the union's unwillingness to return to the classroom as a factor in the district’s decision to return virtually “You know, I’m just going to speak candidly, if we don’t have teachers who want to come in person, we would have to find another set of adults who want to come in person,” Bowser said, according to WTOP. Good. Replace them and lets see the tune change.
You and @Buy1Sell2 parrot this a lot. Once again: It's not about stopping people for ever getting sick, it's about slowing things down so that healthcare resources (beds, ventilators, nurses, etc.) aren't overwhelmed.
Just about anyone not from Louisiana or New Mexico? https://wtop.com/local/2018/07/study-ranks-dc-maryland-virginia-schools
Been a while since I went to primary school.... So how many kids have been going to school in the summer each year now? Does like every kid in the US now attend school for 12 months of the year? That is the way they make it sound.
Yes, we've been hearing you guys parrot this since the beginning of the pandemic. We understand. Or at least I do. I can't speak for someone else. Still, expecting everyone to remain in their homes forever is a little unrealistic.
Plenty of people who would teach if there were no unions. Plenty of day care workers, private school teachers who are working and have been working since the beginning of the crisis.
