UN Officials Cite Study That Finds Lockdowns, School Closures KILLING More Children Than COVID

The risk is low, but it's even lower if kids stay home (and mom and dad get the relief checks). The vaccine will come.

But that's the point. The UN is saying it isn't lower for the kids if they stay home. That's why I posted the article. "The Vaccine Will come" is a nice tiding. Really, it is. But no one knows when or if that happens.

And since the data shows almost no real risk to sending kids to school (granted, for families that do not have high risk members which are the vast majority) then the risk is in not sending them. At least, that's what the "science" is saying.

But it is lower for parents, and lower for teachers. Overall, I say send the relief checks so kids can get to the doctor, and food, and we'll get our vaccine and be able to move on.

unfortunately it isn't just about the doctor and food. its about socialization, its about more effective schooling. Its about anxiety and depression on the rise with kids. Its about overweight children because of no activities and sitting at home all day. It goes on and on. Your checks don't fix any of that.

And the marginally lower risk for parents and teachers doesn't outweigh that. If it did, this would be an easy conversation.

It is still an easy conversation, because that is your opinion, and now you know mine. Easy.

  8. ...taking a study and mislabelling it to push a narrative.

The study does not say end the lockdowns, that is what the author says the study says. Also many states are not in full lockdowns. Keeping restaurants and bars closed have nothing to do with schools and children. The study says:

Five urgent actions to protect children's right to nutrition in the COVID-19 pandemic

    • Safeguard and promote access to nutritious, safe, and affordable diets

    • Invest in improving maternal and child nutrition through pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood

    • Re-activate and scale up services for the early detection and treatment of child wasting

    • Maintain the provision of nutritious and safe school meals for vulnerable children

    • Expand social protection to safeguard access to nutritious diets and essential services

The study is about maintaining access to good food and nutrition for kids, it says noting about closing schools was wrong and it should be reversed.

    Nice try :)

  10. Also the study's main focus?

80% of them in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia—and more than 10 000 additional child deaths per month during this same period.

So yeah..FOX news is going to use this study to say U.S. schools in every district and county regardless of local COVID stats should stay open.

Let the state's decide based on their situation. Vermont, Virginia, Texas and North Dakota are not one size fits all.
