While the rate of population increase has slowed, and that's good, population is still growing and is expected to exceed 10 billion by mid-century. But that number is only half the story. What really matter is: population x consumption = population pressure. Everyone is trying to increase their standard of living. The poor deserve to do so. Even at today's level of population pressure our annual rate is far in excess of what Earth replenishes annually.
