Quote from sptrading: You can have Dow Jones Newswires with CQG. In my opinion, it's not worth paying around 2000$/mth each for Bloomberg and Reuters just to use 1% of it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What are the benefits of Bloomberg and Reuters ? what was the date and forum of the above quote from sptrading? don't agree about paying for use of bloomberg and reuthers just to use 1% of it. if it makes me e.g. $1000 day regularly the less i have to use it the better.
sptrading's quote was from an earlier post of his in this thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=423691#post423691 I should add (to clarify my original question), that I have had a short look at both platforms (Reuters and Bloomberg) a few times in the past (first time was 1999 and last time I checked them was 2002) I think it is because people who trade in Europe are relatively few and most are serious about it.
Has anyone dropped Trade The News for something else recently? I have been considering dropping these guys lately. If you have dropped them, did you replace them with someone else? TTN doesn't cover European numbers. They come on at 7:00 AM Chicago time and cut off after earning announcements at 3:30 PM Chicago time. Are there any services that announce European news when it happens?
hello Guys.. Wana know if is there anyone out here who is trading 10 dax contracts at a time or even more?Lets say 20-25? I am sure there are plenty.. Wana know how is it feel as far as fills are concern with thos emnay contarcts? Suppose if u are trading 20 cts? Do u get instant fills like when u get while trading with 3,4, or 5 cts or u get partial fills and stuff like that. Plz advice, would be greatfull.I have traded ES with 15-20 cts, fills werent a big problem there. Peace!
I think you can trade 20 lots in a go most of the time. It's certainly possible to trade 200 lots at the same price over a few minutes, assuming the market isn't doing anything too hooky.
I should hope you didnt have any "big" problems trading 15-20cts in ES... you probably wouldnt have any at all problems sinking 400cts into an ES market order either. This market is just getting deeper and deeper.
Are you saying that you can trade 200 lots in the FDAX? I don't believe you are right. You would get killed on most days. It is not a product that can absorb that kind of size unless you don't mind taking massive hits like Paul Ritter does or unless you are spreading it against something else. Trading 20 lots in the DAX is something that can be done but it requires a lot of experience, confidence and a nice line of credit with your clearing firm. I think that DAX is too thin to scalp that size and be able to get in and out descently on a momentum move. Of course, I'm only talking in a scalper's timeframe. As a frame of reference, I trade anywhere between 2 to 5 lots depending on the movement and I will get into anywhere between 6 to 30+ contracts on a move. I do this very often from the time the US market opens until Eurex closes. I trade about 1000 to 3000 contracts (roundturns) per day.
It takes a few minutes for sure, you might lose a couple of ticks, you can't expect great fills every time, it requires accepting some risk, but I do this size regularly. I'm not scalping.
