He got an award for designing Norway, all those pretty fractal edges. Yep, very low, you can be sure that one day I hope to make some real money trading.
Still, $30,000 on one day here, $40,000 on another day there, and soon you will be talking about real money!
You see GWB is actually robbing the bank he is working for in IT so looking down his nose at us retail traders. But the money builds up slowly. 30 - 60k a day and after a while you have a bit put away. Today is seriously easy trading though, I recon all the Wall street quants who were or wanted to be real physicists have taken the day off for Hawking.
I read one of Hawkings books, “A Brief History of Time”. He talks about his start in Physics, a little bit of his life, and a liitle bit about the system and how it affects the development of ideas. Then, of course, he talks about physics. In the part where he describes the system on how scientists get funding, I read in between the lines of some of his statements. I could see how some scientists, facing financial pressure, could propose a new idea and get “sympathy” reviews by their peers. I believe this has utlimately led some on a wild goose-change on some of the issues that face us. I wish this discipline would only attract those fully committed to the scientific method. I wish there were a way for the system to be changed to encourage this.
There is some disrepute in every discipline however.. I'm being straight here, it is not like that. Using exceptions to cast doubt on the whole thing is a lobbyist trick whammy. Have you seen the movied "Thank you for Smoking"? If not, very entertaining and worth a look. Science improves as data is gathered, there can be reversals of opinion however... the massive and dangerous scam is AGW, not the other way around.
By “AGW”, I will assume you mean Accelerated Global Warming. Please clarify your position on this issue: Do you see AGW as a real issue or AGW as being a scam? Personally, I recognize global warming as an issue. How much of an overall effect it ultimately will have is hard to say. To me, the debate should be focused on what are the likely effects of global warming an how we can mitigate its effects. Unfortunately, because of mistrust on both sides, one side does not want to admit there is a problem because of the fear of CERCLA-like regulation and demands for accountability. They are paying a huge credibility price for this, however.
Pennies really eh @gwb-trading ? A real trader would laugh at this I know. And remember I'm a total effing tool, just a foreigner. Imagine how well you would do. Quit the day job, re-mortgage the house and get cracking (unless you are already cracking the bank you work for, then you might be making more alright).
I should have written "AGW deniers", my bad. Anthropogenic Global Warming. Both sides being 1-4% ish of the world population vs the rest? Remember the US is just 4.4% of the world and only a fraction of that are opposing the work in the US. Almost no others are in the 95.6% non-US world. You can find stray voices in any country however don't try an fool anyone with 'mistrust on both sides'. Lobbyists have one job, to create doubt. But they only really get paid to work on you, not the rest of us.
It's not that people become more conservative as they age. It's that people become more realistic as they grow up and take on more responsibilities and are forced to have to deal with so much real life problems that liberal ideals just don't have any solutions for. You want to achieve those idealistic goals? Great! But I need to be able to feed myself and my family first!
