    1 minute and 14 seconds in ...

Listen to the question and his response

    This was 2 days ago

He said he wouldn't drop tariffs. 24 hrs later he drops it to 80%%%

Just proves China is winning the tariff war

  2. People act like Trump is dumb when it is them a
who are well shall I say ignorant as that sounds a little nicer than saying dumb.

  3. The problem you people have is you have such great disgust for Trump that you focus on him instead of what he is DOING. You make it a Trump issue. What he is doing is negotiating and drawing them to the negotiating table, helping them save face (being an Asian culture) and playing hardball with the initial and secondary higher tariffs and hardliners stance. All that is to get them to loosen up and deal. Much like you selling a used car putting the selling price at 20,000.00 then putting out an offer in a special reduction price to 16,000.00 to draw out buyers then even dealing down to 15,000.00 as final price.

It is same sort of thing he is doing. HARDBALL ON purpose but all the time with the intent to deal down to a lower price. Otherwise, he gets noone's attention. Now he does!

In the end in every case the USA will come out with a better deal than we had before if these countries want to sell to us.

That's vintage Trump...throw out a random 145% number and say to the world he will not change that number...

Later, Trump begins to backtrack and tariffs on China is now 80% just so he can say to China that he's being "nice" and "doing them a favor" to see if they bite on the 80%. To cover his ass, Trump then states in an interview its Bessent who's taking charge in Geneva and it's his decision making that will get America a good deal.

If China takes that carrot of 80% tariff...Trump will say he's a genius and it's the Art of the Deal (America will make money). Yet, if China doesn't take the carrot and the trade talks go south...it's not Trump's fault. It's the fault of Bessent. :D :wtf:

Bessent has been promoted to the "fall guy" position similar to Waltz over Signal Chat scandal instead of Hegseth who continues organizing meetings on Signal chat. :sneaky:

Note: Waltz is being sent elsewhere to make him happy and to keep his mouth shut.

To be fair, prior White House administrations also used Signal Chat. Actually, many congressional members use Signal Chat.

Have they started trolling Da Pope (Pope Leo XIV) from Chicago? :D

Southern evangelicals must be pssst that the new Pope is from Chicago, supports immigrants, and believes refugees in need of help should be given help.

He became Pope after Pope Francis death because the cardinals believe he's best to deal with the current destabilization caused by we all know who...caused by that fake religious guy sitting in the Oval Office who wanted to troll the Vatican with a picture of him as the new Pope after the Vatican made disparaging remarks about directly to Trump at the funeral of Pope Francis in front of the world to see that the Vatican does not approve of Trump's domestic and foreign policies that's destabilizing the world.

Essentially the Vatican is saying Trump is not a man of peace and should stop meddling into the affairs of other countries.

Today, Trump is happy its an American Pope as he stated on Truth Social but I guarantee this non-religious idiot will go back to trolling Pope Leo XIV especially whenever the Pope criticizes Trump's domestic and foreign policies.

In the meantime, Canada and Australia have elected people who can deal with Trump or not afraid of his bully/trolling/revenge tactics. Traders of the U.S. financial markets should be loving this crazy volatility...more profits and we should not care about who wins the tariff war.

    Right ???

As a citizen of different countries, I'm banking on the crazy currency exchange rates because the U.S. dollar is still KING. I've converted more U.S. dollars this year alone into Canadian dollars (especially in February) instead of Euro Dollars than any other year in my lifetime...thanks to Trump's bullshit. :D

Last of all, Trump foreign policies and his tariff war on the world...European art has greatly appreciated in value in Canada in comparison to collectors of American art because collectors have been shifting away from American art here in Canada...buy Canada only or buy Europe only.

Re Cdn$/US$ it tends to be in a giant range between 0.70 and 1.02 forever. Anything under 0.70 always rebounds and anytime it goes over par the Bank of Canada beats it down with policy ( I believe we hit $1.06 ). Rule of thumb 0.72 or lower is great time to buy $Cdn with $US because 0.78-0.82 is very likely down the road. The 0.82 might be a chance to sell back if you need to an easy 15% profit. You have to be hedged the right way if you need the money short term.

One of the best trades I missed was simply buy US market unhedged when the $Cdn was at par or higher. You got the capital gains plus 20-30%; even if the market corrected you'd b/e because of exchange. These trades tend to repeat longer term.

Countries will shift to selling in markets with lower tariffs and easier access, leaving U.S. consumers to pay the price through higher costs, costs that producers no longer need to partly absorb, even if they could.

There’s a wild, blinkered, nationalist fantasy that the world is desperate to sell to Americans, but the U.S. makes up only about 4.2% of global consumers. That kind of thinking is outdated and dangerously self-important.

I've never converted CDN dollars from my Canadian bank to USD dollars at my U.S. bank. In contrast, whenever I move money from one country to another country its always from USD dollars (it's king) to CDN dollar or to EUR dollar.

Yet, since the return of Trump to the Oval Office...if I choose EUR dollar, I can only only make money on the conversion with the EUR when I move EUR from my French bank to USD at my U.S. bank...it has not been something I've been willing to do while Trump occupies the Oval Office.

Thus, I'm more focus on USD ---> CDN or EUR --> CDN whenever I need to move funds from one bank to another bank. The other option that I've used for small & large purchases is to just make that purchase with my U.S. credit card or with my France credit card.

As a trader with multiple citizenships, it's the easiest trade to do...always a winner when converted to Canadian Dollar. :D

In addition, I own most of my grandmother's art work from France. It has appreciated greatly because of Trump's tariff war. It has now caused me to put on hold of getting photograph collections from American artists although I've heard that they are "exempt".

Not worth taking any chances with America photograph collections when Trump can easily change his mind...backtrack and then attack a particular industry group at the blink of an eye.

Further, my middle child (image posted in another thread - vacation thread) has declined his acceptance at one of the U.S. top universities...University of Chicago in Hyde Park, Illinois. He's choosing to attend a Canadian university because of Trump's policies whereas my oldest is already in the U.S. at military school.

Not a problem but I was hoping at least one of my kids would attend the same university that my grandfather (on my father side of the family) attended. Plus, Hyde Park Illinois is a tough place to live especially with it's high crime rate (burglaries and robberies).

  8. Will see if Canada is laughing in a few months to 2 years from now.

  9. Then don't worry about it and quit griping about the tariffs and Trump. If it means nothing i.e.the US market then the tariffs should pull no negative reactions from other countries and people like you.

I should update that to tariffs but everybody gets it.

We need to talk to Baron about not transferring threads that bring more hyper-magas over to politics. Just delete the posts. I guess maybe it's for indexing reasons but...
