    The maker of products including cockpits and radios expects to let 1,250 employees go in the fiscal year through September, Chief Executive Officer Clay Jones said in an interview. About 250 have already been given notices, he said.

    Of the 1,000 left, he said about 350 are tied to the U.S. deficit-cutting process called sequestration

    Reuters) - Dow Chemical Co, the largest chemical maker in the United States, said on Tuesday it plans to cut 5 percent of its workforce and shutter 20 plants as part of a restructuring program aimed at countering a slowing global economy.

  7. CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Swiss banking giant UBS is getting ready to roll out a plan to cut as many as 10,000 jobs, the Financial Times reports, citing unnamed sources. The move will shrink the trading side and complexity of its investment banking unit.

    Like rival securities firms, UBS has been struggling to boost profitability as client activity and trading remain sluggish.

    All that negative biz&economy news from the US indicate and prove that the US economy no more can compete with the rest of the developed countries. The US has only a strong military, but even that they can't afford anymore. Times are changin', IMO normalizing...
