Umm, no. The nation was in true dire straights during and following the Bay of Pigs fiasco in the early 1960s.

This shit with Trump and e-mail servers and transcripts and yellow mattresses will pass. We'll be fine, as long as the American consumer continues to buy cheep shit from Asia.

Well, I am sure you will not die from radiation sickness if you cannot get your cheep consumer goods from Asia. You'll pay a bit more to get the shit from other less cheeper sources, like USA.

    MAGAGAGA! lol

we don't make the tech I'm buying from China. We've grown fat, lazy, and dumb. Knowledge is mocked and shunned as elitist.

I see you copied my bad spelling. It is "dire straits"! I tried to correct it but the 60 min rule foiled me.

I hope your right of course. But I'm concerned the residue from "this shit with Trump" may be with us long after Trump's gone.

I was referring to democracy and freedom, not the economy. Although the latter's been mismanaged by Trump, who's happy to take credit for inertia created by natural forces and his predecessor's Central Bank and Treasury's management of the great recession -- that, ironically, they also created. If you ask soybean farmers how Trump's doing, they will tell you the truth. The mound of extra dollars Trump's admin is leaving in the economy will be his replacement's problem.

As with all demagogues, lying and gross exaggeration is Trump's forte. The man is a non-stop shameless liar! For example, I heard Trump lie when he referred to his many bouts with Jerry Nadler, who represented Manhattan's West side when Trump was trying to develop property there. Trump has always suckled at the taxpayer teat; something he learned from his dad, who narrowly escaped going to prison for embezzling federal housing dollars. Nadler, on the other hand, comes from a hard scrabble background and has always fought for the working class. It is not surprising then that Trump and Nadler might clash. Trump told an outrageous lie when he said he'd always beaten Nadler in past fights. That's about as far from the truth as it's possible to get. The truth is somewhere between abject total defeat for Trump and minor victories.

Here is the true record of their fights:

    --- a brief excerpt:
Rosenthal said that Nadler’s “tangles with Trump in the past make him perfectly suited” to investigate the president. “Trump knows what Jerry’s like. He knows how smart he is. He knows that he’s relentless. And Trump’s obviously upset that he can’t control him.”
"After Trump’s election, residents of the apartment complex voted to have his name removed from the property, a repudiation of the man who fought for its very existence.

If ever the world has known a greater horse's ass than Donald Trump, I can't imagine who it would be.

This was apparently intended for someone else. My post was about what a lousy businessman and failed human being Trump is.

We know that about 30% of the Country think Trump is a good businessman and a wonderful President. Bless their hearts, Trump rally goers and groupies have Trump himself as the source of their information.

Just curious, but how can you call someone a "failed human being" when they are a billionaire and President of the United States??

I mean, how deranged are you? Regardless of your personal likes or dislikes regarding the person, you can't deny he's rather successful in life. You call him a failure from your bar stool in Alabama or Mississippi (I forget which). You know, just for context.
