You gotta have some real conviction to hold TZA for a year! I want to see the Russel cross its 200 day before I buy into this whole bear mentality, TZA's long term charts are downright scary...
Holding a 3x ETFs is financial kamikaze. I never can make money trading ETFs, so I gave up on them. Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, and know when to run!
I see that and I am really amazed and stunned. To be honest I could not see that happen but I see IWM as a great trap.
I believe that I am still right that it "could to 15 in no time" but I was dead wrong that it did not go up during the time that I was expecting it.
TZA above $11, still holding, every time it gets to these levels where it looks like the nasdaq is going to continue its drop below 5000 the nasdaq jumps and TZA starts to lose ground, has happened at least 3-4 times in the last 6 months, I usually will average in on these falls but this is one ETF i haven't done that with and the thing is if I had done it I would have been up quite a bit of money, anyway still holding, will sell it above $12.00+ should only take the nasdaq to fall below 4800 to get that $12+ on TZA, that will happen when the s$p breaks through support and brings the entire market down.
JUST SOLD TZA AT $12. Sweet sweet sweet profits, took a long time but I held on, just got out at $12.00, will buy back after the nasdaq surges back above 5000, until then on the sidelines with some cash waiting patiently for TZA to come back down!!!
TZA NOW at $11.87 Just sold all my shares at $12.00 Told you it was going up.....took some time, months but it got there..
So you made 0.22 minus commissions holding a losing trade for 7 months. You've posted about this holding many times, it is basically your signature trade on your projection of a correction. This is kind of absurd to think this is good trading. It's not like you are avoiding big losers, your UWTI is almost certainly an unavoidable loss already. I don't see how this trading can possibly justify the amount of time you put into it unless you develop the balls to hold your winners longer ( and cut your losers quicker ), and better educate yourself about economics and other longer term market related factors.
