TWTR - Twitter starts trading November 7

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by FXforex, Nov 6, 2013.

  1. Twitter has nowhere to go. Yes they have an incredible user base and maybe they can pull a miracle out like Facebook has, but I doubt it. The whole concept of Twitter is tough to make a good profit on. Plus, everyone who wants a Twitter account probably has one by now – and a lot of those are fake.

  3. SuperCruz,

I think you're totally right. They seem to be completely forgetting that a (now public ) company needs to do things to attract new investors and keep older ones. They're functioning as if they are the only company people can invest in. So, what's their claim to fame? "Oh you too can open an account at Twitter, look at our endless spam (unless you click BLOCK AD / REPORT SPAM - for which you'll get your account closed because we can't have all our employees bothering to check REPORTED SPAM that actually turns out to just be our Paying Sponsored Clients because we can't close THEIR accounts even though we'd LIKE to - but please don't tell anyone any of this PLEASE - we'd rather just close our members' accounts) and be part of countless fake accounts. Oh and while you're 'tweeting' PLEASE BUY from our Sponsored Ads, our Sponsored Accounts (NOT AS FAKE AS REAL FAKE ACCOUNTS!!) our Sponsored Hashtags and Sponsored Tweets (that even our top execs post!) THANK YOU! WE REALLY NEED THE MONEY! PLEASE!! Apart from that we offer nothing other than a place for morons, idiots and CELEBRITIES like ***STEVE MARTIN*** AND ***BARACK OBAMA*** to TWEET TWEET TWEET TWEET all day! -- all told 500M+ tweets A DAY (our top execs count them daily, so we KNOW those numbers are NOT fake!!)."

    Good post.

  4. SuperCruz,

Also, unlike legitimate and responsible sites such as EliteTrader that provide real accountability, Twitter gets children charged with felonies (http://wavy.com/2014/02/05/teen-accused-of-tweeting-nude-selfies/), and can get you fired from your job (http://www.zdnet.com/twitter-the-public-square-of-the-21st-century-will-get-you-fired-7000024581/).

Little wonder Wunderlich, UBS and others rate TWTR a Sell.

  5. I dunno, guys. I kinda teeter with Twitter (wait, did that come out right?).
I mean, the structural platform as it is, globally, does have, I think, a lot of usefulness.
Well, maybe not in the pure stellar money making category like a GOOG - it may never have that - but, I do feel it has potential to help. To help people. To help the world. I've really got nothing against the guys at the top. It's just... well, it's very hard to make a profit with little more than a website these days, you know?

Take Baron and ET, for example. This guy is nothing short of brilliant. So many have tried to pull off what he's accomplished with Elite Trader, and they've failed.

So, I dunno, maybe the jury's still out with Twitter. It may just need some time for the execs to acclimate and get it together, with their new found stock offering wealth.

Perhaps considering all the benefits and good Twitter potentially has, some time is warranted -- to see if they can get beyond whatever it is that's blocking their vision to all the upside Twitter has to offer society.

I do retract that Twitter is made up of morons and idiots. There's actually some pretty bright people as active members, @StephenKing just joined. There's also @Gladwell.

It'll never be EliteTrader for sure. Then again, they are two different platforms, accomplishing two different things.

  6. It has it weaknesses. But it's much more of a "real time" experience than Facebook. FB is like a ghost town these day I feel. But there's no arguing with the numbers they keep posting.

If TWTR morphs a bit towards FB personal page model, but keeps the "real time" aspect, it probably can take off.

  7. Cdntrader, all really good and valid points. If you don't mind I'll reply to your post here on the new TWTR thread I started. I hope this isn't against the rules.
