TWS crashes.What is the fix?

  1. vhehn,

Those system errors look like either faulty memory or a corrupted OS. The JVM generally doesn't panic unless the OS or the underlying HW has a fundamental problem.

Did you install any memory recently, or touch any of the memory chips?

Try to get the system diagnostics tool for your system at Dell and run it.

Yep Looks like a Mem problem.

    Try this:

Swap the memory cards. Take the mem card in slot1 and insert it in slot2. The one that was in Slot2, insert into slot 1.

If there is a problem with the mem, doing this usually forces the problem to come up sooner if not immediately.

Don't do this while standing on a carpet. Do this is a kitchen or on another hard surface to avoid static electricity which can fry a chip.

If you are sure it is not memory. I would suggest you boot into safe mode and then run your anti-virus programs. It is surprizing what shows up in safe mode. Make sure software is up to date.

Please try installing java 1.5 instead of the 1.6 you are using right now.

If problem persists - please PM me

  6. vhehn,

This reminds me of a problem I had a couple of years ago. The machine worked fine *except* when I turned on the DDE process in Excel and then boom! Excel would just crash and disappear. I replaced video card, hard drive, memory, reinstalled software, etc, etc. Dell had a tech guy come by and replace the motherboard and he was surprised too as the new motherboard made no difference. Finally, the guy says that since the only thing not yet replaced was the CPU, then he ordered a new one, came back a week later and problem solved with new CPU. Machine was still under warranty. Nothing in the way the machine worked would tell you there was anything wrong. Only after loading Excel and DDE would you notice a problem.
