TWS API: Excel vs Python

Should a newbie with ToS custom indicator code try using IBKR Excel or Python?

Yeah, been playing around with dask recently but migrating is still on hold for me because dask is lacking multiindex handling.

You could get a second monitor so that you have tos and IB TWS mosaic on separate screens so no need to alt tab. Have you looked at www.scanz.com and www.tc2000.com ?

Getting a second monitor does not help as the issue is ToS is simply late or not firing alerts when it should.

tc2000 needs us to be with them as brokers, but we hope to stick with IBKR cos of good location: IBKR has an office in Singapore and using one of the local banks to hold our moneys. And also to avoid costs from "hopping".

Scanz does not have the indicators we want...

Just tried connecting the spreadsheet to the TWS API, encountering that ddedll.dll error. But the spreadsheet still connected.

going by my workflow, the first thing I need to figure out is the market scanner portion of the spreadsheet. Just to try, I subscribed to that Top Gainers, and this was what kicked out.

image URL if the above image doesn't work.

this Excel DDE is supposed to offer whatever TWS is capable of. But I find the documentation on the spreadsheet specifics lacking. The most I got is this https://www1.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=1062

and the links to more information are ALL BROKEN 404 LINKS

Hard to find any videos on Youtube either, mostly dated more than a decade.

Any ideas where i can go next?
