    Highly unlikely. It'll take a few days before the ACLU can locate the guy to launch their lawsuit. ;)

  7. You're misrepresenting and misunderstanding the concerns of civil libertarians like myself. A private citizen fending off an attacker <b>cannot possibly be guilty of civil rights violations.</b> The concern is mainly directed at government agents. If the mugger had been arrested and held for weeks without habeas corpus- <b>that</b> would be a civil rights violation.
