Prior to Elon taking over Twitter, the company's response to Erdoğan's demands that accounts of opposition politicians be taken down was "we are not going to do that and we defy you to ban Twitter in the country" -- because let's point out once again under the Turkish Constitution merely being an opposition politician is not against the law. In fact the Turkish Constitution states "Turkey is a secular (2.1) and democratic (2.1) republic (1.1) that derives its sovereignty (6.1) from the people." None of these opposition politicians running for office posted any illegal or defaming material. Most just posted information boosting themselves and never mentioned Erdoğan. Sadly after Musk took over Twitter he caved to Erdoğan and removed Twitter accounts of opposition politicians in Turkey. In fact this censorship for no reason on behalf of a dictator is against Turkish law. Elon Musk loves dictators and he has been pandering to account take down requests from authoritarian clowns from around the globe (Erdoğan, Modi, etc.) None of these accounts violated local laws.
