The advertisers have the obligatory little pandering to the lefties ("we are evaluating") kabuki dance that they must do. It is how all of corporate America rolls now. Let me give you a little clue though. If they are making substantial revenue on Twitter, that is the thing that they will be evaluating first and foremost. Some will leave and then watch their competitors take their twitter-share of business. That's fine.
This. Musk made an absurd spur of the moment purchase on an upside company at a premium sale price. Now he is flailing around trying to figure out how to get cash flow and his best idea is charge $8 a month for a blue check. It’s sad to watch.
Maybe Elon will send out a tweet calling all advertisers lefties pedo's later today. As I said, Elon is a businessman/entrepreneur but he is also a home entertainment system of sorts. Go for it Elon.
The idea of 8$ charge is good, as usual for Musk. What the problem is? I am actually optimistic that he will turn Twitter into gold and that this business will be very successful. It will not happen very soon though.
Advertising isn’t always about immediately generating sales. Although Sandburg turned out a great model for Facebook. With Twitter it’s very much brand association. Twitter is/was a different kind of social media. Its brand was officials, governments, experts etc. It wasn’t a bad association for a lot of companies. A lot of professional people with disposable income use Twitter. The key was to not let the barbarian hordes overtake it.
Exactly. This is why I said that the advertisers know exactly how many impressions they are getting from Twitter and will make the decision the same way they always do based on ROI.
I'm not sure how you can say that is his "best" idea. Give the guy a chance - he's owned it less than a week. I'm sure he's got a whole bunch of ideas, and just because we don't know what they are, doesn't mean they don't exist. Maybe you're correct, and he's floundering. There's just no way to know without being a true insider. The $8 is an easy first step. The getting rid of 75% of the worthless employees - also really easy.
Musk also locked the code and Tesla engineers are reviewing it. It is hard to review code like that but this code cannot be too complex. I have huge respect for Tesla engineers after I drove the car for a week. The software is excellent, head and shoulders above everything I saw. This step is also great. So far so good. It will take years to put Twitter in order though.
Imagine having to abandon your dream job building cutting edge drivetrain systems to review code for the boss's new gossip pet project rag?
So Musk brought over Telsa self-driving auto-pilot team to Twitter. Can someone tell us -- now that it has been several years -- has Tesla delivered a reliable, safe self-driving car yet? Seeing that Tesla and Twiiter use two totally different programming languages, and the Tesla engineers have no understanding of the Twitter architecture (and Musk laid off the Twitter senior engineering platform director and top architects already) --- does anyone think these Tesla engineers will help Twitter in any manner be successful. All the Tesla engineers are doing is counting the number of code commits in the Twitter software repository to determine who to lay off later this week. Sadly the junior engineer who fixed a lot of minor errors will be retained and the senior engineer who fixed a small number of very complex issues will be sent packing.
