  4. I looked at the twitter api, and while I could deal with it, calling it a few minutes work to get an app going is ludicrous.

    You know better.

The feature I want , that should already BE in twitter 1000 years ago if they weren't shmucks, is a simple custom alert (audio and popup) when a specific followed user tweets. I know there are web pages set up to something like this (Trump for instance) but for fu***s sake, this should be built into tweetdeck.

Amazing is hasn't been done already. But if you use twitter you know these are not the sharpest pencils in the box.

There are also uncountable Java wrappers.

Pulling the. Net Library from nuget takes 15 seconds. Getting your security and oauth token off twitter takes 1 minute. Copying and pasting the sample code from above website takes 10 seconds. Adding a few filters takes 5 minutes. If you cannot get in tweets by a specific user and filter by topic of your choice within 15 minutes then you are a poor programmer and should hire someone to do it for you. Stop being so friggin arrogant. Either you have coding skills or you don't. But stop whining and bitching about everything just because you lack the skills.

PS If you want to populate results on your mobile then install hipchat on your phone, pull in the. Net library from nuget and simple post the result as alert to the hipchat api and it shows on your phone. Geez . and you can still do all you want in tweet deck, filter by user AND topic exactly as you requested. You are just clueless how to use it. Read some basic intro and you can set it up in minutes as well

You must be one of those out-of-school programmers that think any programming task takes minutes. Give them the task, and 10 months later you are still working to get a functioning application :)

It is all self taught. There are people who put an effort into learning applicable skills and then there are those who demand everyone else to dish them up freebies and if they don't find freebies they start complaining. I never claimed production software takes minutes to code up. I stuck to this specific topic under discussion and have even provided a timed breakdown. If you disagree with any of the stated tasks and the time it takes then which parts specifically do you disagree with. I have even played around with the twitter api myself a while a go and it did indeed take a few minutes to come up with some results, satisfactory enough for the demands one of the users here posed.

Most of the apps with custom alerts that work with Twitter...I've found on Google or any other search engine...a lot of them have a lifespan of only several years or they go from free to fee-base. I've notice this lifespan since twitter started.

It makes me wonder if the developers of those apps had some kind'uv a contract that eventually expired or they were hoping someone would purchase their firm and when that didn't happen...they closed shop.

Anyways, still several good apps out there for desktop and mobile that have custom alerts on when your favorite user post a message or on specific key word alerts.

By the way, Twitter was not specifically designed for traders. :D Yet, traders or any other occupation or person can use it.
