I always thought the major networks were middle of the road and made an effort at unbiased reporting in news broadcasts, so now I'm wondering did they change or did one end or the other of the political spectrum scale move. I think it is the latter. No doubt current mainstream reporting is in reaction to daily lying by the President. It has to be, otherwise reporters would appear as chumps having bought into obvious lies. I can't figure Trumps politics as either left or right. He seems to me to be a mentally deranged con artist with only one real purpose: getting attention to promote his 'Brand' while avoiding jail; it seems he'll do anything, say anything, if it serves that purpose at the moment. It's as though all the real politicians are in the House and Senate, the "political think tanks" and the PACs and other special interest groups that support them. Trump's White House contingent of appointees and staff appear to have been selected on the basis of fealty to Trump. They are there to praise him as the deal maker, and thank him for being so 'wonderful.' (If anyone has any doubt, they only need to watch the video of Trump's infamous cabinet meeting in which each cabinet member is given the opportunity to heap praise on 'Der Fuhrer'.) Once a staffer or appointee calls too much attention to themselves, i.e., gets caught 'showboating', or saying anything that is critical of the President's whim du jour, they're gone. How nauseating this man we call our 'President' is!
AGAIN I ask Show me one example of any of the networks having MUST RUN political segments for Democrats. Enough with the whataboutisms.
You don't think the evening news at 6:30pm Eastern is not run political segments for Democrats on ABC, NBC, and CBS. Amusing. You ever see one of these local affiliate stations refuse to show the national news.
Is the national news segment (what happened today in the nation/world) provided by a major network the same as an pure opinion piece in America? Seems there should be some delineation. I'd love to see example of what your saying as it is unclear to me.
I guess you don't watch the national news on your local affiliate. Nearly 1/3 of the newscast is merely opinion and not news.
No, your right there I don't. Perhaps exGOPer or other can explain but I have a lingering feeling what Sinclair are doing is injecting hardcore right wing (looney level propaganda) pieces into local programming that has not gone there before. I have a look at an internet broadcasted affiliate. The Sinclair "terrorism alert desk" sounds more than a little awful. http://www.kob.com/live/ All seems pretty innocuous. I'll keep watching.
you suspicion is correct. you conclusion is wrong. The democrats moved far closer to big centralized govt power and socialism / fascism. If you look at what a democrat was in the 60s today... JFK would be to the right of many establishment republicans. He lowered taxes. Fought commies Told as we should help our country not suck off it. Democrats use to be pro worker. pro wages and therefore anti immigration. Even todays democrats who have been around more than 5 to 10 years were pro border security... and anti immigration to a much greater degree than they are now.
My suspicion is this. Both Dem and Con are really serving their donors. This has been exacerbated by a lot of things, and the astonishing citizens united ruling being just the cherry on the top. The dems and cons are hard to tell apart in ways because the serve the same class of masters. I'm not sure the US has ever approximated the people's democracy people imagine it to be. It got good when the oligarchs got idealistic also, post WWII, but that waxed and waned. In the case of the OP's post, it is not good the TV networks that both left/right/dem/con/cat/dog could watch in peace boring, ABC/NBC affiliates are being pumped with op-ed corporate propaganda. I've listened to an NBC affiliate TV station in Albuquerque today (KOB).Traffic status, state fair preparation, weather and other basic local news and events. No savage political partisan "opinion". If Sinclair (and there will be a Dem version soon) get their way that is it. Don't turn on the TV or just watch Netflix shows if you don't want propaganda blared at you. Netfix will be next though, somehow. Remember in the book 1984? You could not turn the TV's off.
