A changing America: In 2012, blacks outvoted whites

A Census report on the 2012 election finds that blacks were more likely to vote than whites for the first time. The number of white voters declined by more than 2 million, another first.

WASHINGTON — President Obama won a second term thanks to record high turnout among black voters and the first-ever decline in the number of white voters, a U.S. Census report released Wednesday shows.

For the first time, African Americans were more likely to vote than non-Hispanic whites were: 66.2% of eligible blacks voted, compared with 64.1% of whites. Since the Census Bureau began publishing voting data by race in 1968, whites had voted at higher levels than black.

"African American turnout – critical for any Democratic win in the South – remained strong as well. Black voters made up a fifth of the electorate, and nearly nine in ten African Americans voted Democratic, continuing a pattern that has held for the last three statewide elections."

  3. You think Elizabeth Warren and Hillary don't have charisma?

Nothing like having some school marm you had back in grade school reappear to lecture you and wag their finger at you and tell you that they said you would grow up to be a deplorable and you did. Yeh. Boner-killers. The whole bunch.

Voters are attracted to candidates who have messages of hope. Even if it is hope that you can overcome everything that the last successful candidate with a message of hope did. And so it goes.

Depends on where you are in Maslow's Need Hierarchy though. If things are really bad, then security is more important than hope or charisma. The dull guy who got the food and can kill someone who might otherwise kill you, be the man then.

Come on Tony... using that logic, poor Ruthie might as well pass the baton to Amy Barrett next week.

  10. Nope. No impeachment of kavanaugh.

Unless you mean some bills introduced in the house by a some wackjobs- just as they introduced them on trump just for being elected. Beyond that. Nope. No trial in the senate.

Not unrelated is the fact that Pelosi is working overtime to tamp all that impeachment stuff down. She knows how it will play out.
