Beto starts the primary with Texas and tons of cash in his pocket. You are severely overating Bernie supporters and Betos nice guy approach is the best way to deal them. Hillary supporters tried to drag Obama into the mud in 2008 and he simply didn't oblige,Beto will do the same.Dont know if he wins the primary but he beats Trump in 2020,all of the top contenders do.

I'm not saying Beto wouldn't win...you could run any random street person and it should beat Trump. He just wouldn't be mean enough as president and be lame duck the whole time. Obama had a bitch of a time getting anything done due to obstruction, even when he had the whole government, he dicked around too long playing nice and didn't get much through congress.

You need someone that will hold dirty secrets over Republican's heads if they don't vote as they should, that will pit republicans against one another, someone who will primary candidates that don't bend, that will expose crimes and put them in jail in the most public of ways. The GOP needs to be burnt to the ground if you will, Beto ain't that guy.

The problem with getting things done is the Senate. I have advocated nixing the filibuster for a long time. Yes, Obama has 60 senate seats but that doesn’t make them lay downs.

The problem with the filibuster is not only does it hold up legislation, it also holds up repealing legislation.

This government was never designed to be this stagnant. Quite the opposite, our government was designed to be in a constant state of revolution.

Long story short, don’t fear nixing the filibuster. Yes it gives whatever side your against more opportunity to enact legislation you don’t like but it also gives the ability to repeal legislation and enact legislation too.

I agree.I would even support republicans doing it now.Reconciliation is probably the biggest obstacle now as it allowed republicans to get their biggest priority passed without having to end the filibuster .Republicans would have ended the filibuster to get their tax cuts through if they didn't have the reconciliation option imo.

  6. The question will be, do the dems want to win, or do they just want to throw red meat to the idiot base? If the want to win someone like Tulsi Gabbard has a shot. If they just want to preach to the choir, the list of loons they can run is long.

I hope you don't really believe that.Gabbard has the worst shot, she has no shot.More dems would stay home on her than they did Hillary.

  8. Clearly, you are trying to make chickensoup out of chickenshit with that cast of characters.

In any case, within a month you will be off talking about Sherrod Brown being the Great White Hope along with some identity politics clown as vp, I guess kamala harris is the only designated token so far. Tulsi fits the check off list for vp but would be more controversial and has to navigate her extremely wide range of views. In other words she is not just a dud like Kamala so has stuff she will need to account for other than just walking while being a woman and a semi-minority. And she will hold the duds accountability for their actions/non-actions as well.

And yes, I know that Sherrod Brown has wife beating problems, but that bit about all women must be believed does not apply to democrats. I mean Kamala Harris is not going to say "I wont run on your ticket because you abused your wife." Nope, not something you gonna hear.

People are sick of politicians and the same old BS in general.
That's the real reason Trump won I think.
Americans love charisma.... hence Beto's success(?). Obama's for sure. Probably Trumps too in a way.

Dems should throw out a Mark Cuban - Oprah Winfrey ticket.
Won't happen, but I bet there'd be a landslide. Remember, 100MM still stayed home the last time around. That's the biggest voting block out there.

If Cuban and Oprah get along (I have no idea), they'd be untouchable.

The Supreme Court is now secure for the foreseeable future, maybe more-so very soon. More than likely, that'll be Trumps one true legacy to his base. We still need change, and I don't see it coming from any of the aforementioned "clowns" so far in these various "2020 ahead" threads.

We won't be Socialists under Cuban that's for sure, and I think he could handle Trump in the debates. PPV worthy to say the least. Ditto a Winfrey/Pence debate.
