I don't waste a lot of my time trying to decide what somebody else should do with their money, or for that matter, how they spend their time.
[PARTIALQUOTE="game, post: 4111742, member: 442354"]Q: Who are you going to vote for in the presidential election? Paul Tudor Jones: I think the biggest issue facing America, unequivocally, is campaign finance reform. When you sit down and talk about gun control or charter schools ...............[/QUOTE] %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% I like PT Jones+ his Jack Schwager Top Trader interviews; but to blame fine groups like the NRA or common sense people who respect the 2nd ammedment is plain silly + wrong.Even Democrat james carville said gun control is a ''loser '' issue for Dems. Thanks PS I took up for PT Jones when the elites- FEDS raided his farm;strict liability law on migratory birds......................................................................Typical way too complex federal law-micro-management
"Do you prefer Mother Theresa who may have saved 10000 kids or Paul Tudor Jones who may support 100000 poor? I choose the former for true heart and conviction and a lifetime of selfless service." "According to reports he hardly ever spends actual time with any poor or homeless." this is the kind of nonsense that you speak to an innocent woman half of your age or an elderly professor speaking to a doe eye female freshman or a radical leftie trying to jump the bones of a clueless female. by your logic let the other 90000 starve or live a life diminished by disease .
My thought also, I suspect the extra 90000 who will get help have a different opinion than Volpunter. I noticed he also managed to include an anal sex reference, we'd been spared at least 5 posts, but one can't hold too much hope with Voly. Mate, what's so wrong with you ?
I am happy Paul is catching on and speaks out. Wonderful, unfortunately, corruption is merely a symptom IMO. It is related to elitism and equity. http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index...izing-pattern-for-the-world-look-like.223229/ As Einstein once said - If I had an hour to solve a problem, I would spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem, and 5 minutes thinking about solutions. I have had some thoughts since that thread about IMO what the new pattern would look like. Elitism out, unfettered internet in, political correctness out, fractional reserve banking - DOUBLE OUT, war out, entitlement - limited, ownership - limited, population much less, etc. I still struggle with the precise problem but I do still maintain - What happens to one, happens to us all. Mankind will learn that lesson or mankind will die trying to learn it IMO.
Why are you stalking me in pretty much every thread I participate? That aside maybe you want to consider why one was awarded the Nobel price of peace and inspired millions while the other goes down in the history books as a great trader. The funny thing is that most of the wealthy in general make perfectly legitimate life choices but later on realize that they have advanced men kind in little or no way,and here comes the bizarre part, but suddenly in their advance age think they can change course and shower a few millions on some of the poor and truly believe they have made a meaningful contribution to human kind in relatively larger ways than those who sacrificed their lives and efforts to support others in need Throughout their lives. I am glad that the ultimate judge is who looks at the true intentions and heart and not at how some try to make a name for themselves after they realized that their billions bore them to death. I respect others differ in their assessment and while they probably laude everything Paul Tudor Jones does or says I respectfully disagree.
otherwise, trying to "rethink" capitalism is like trying to rethink sex or childbirth. It's kind of natural. Every now and then someone like Karl Marx tries to come up with some kind of unnatural alternative, and it just leaves the victims scratching their head saying, "I must be just a dumb peasant, because I don't get it." You gotta go to college for at least 4 years and preferably more to understand the alternative to capitalism. When it comes to the alternative, most never make it past, "Someone else has more and it's not fair." vs Capitalism where a few make it to, "Someone else has more, and I should learn from them how to also have more."
All laudable thoughts...unfortunately spending 40 years buying and selling securities as one's only pursuit in life and now going public and speaking about inequality while the same person joyfully took advantage the system affords to capitalist while offering a close to nonexistent safety and security net to the masses is beyond my understanding. But hey...doing a TED is in. If you want to belong then you do as your cirules tell you regardless of true motive. Sorry I just don't buy some hedge fund manager turned philanthropist Story. It's like Ken Griffin or S. Cohen quitting and going to Africa. Won't happen...it's others who made it their life pursuit to make this world a little better place. And it's funny how the same people who preached to their disciples to stick to their guns pretend to now make a 180.
You are again getting lose with facts, but I'm no longer surprised. My post above was the first time I adressed you or one of your posts this week.
volp.. is pulling a sleigh of hands with numbers as he is prone to do on every thread. "and shower a few millions on some of the poor " 1. a few million dollars is a large number depending how it is distributed. lend it to budding entrepreneurs all over the world inc. the US there will be a multiplier effect beyond imagination. in any case we are talking about much larger sums of money.
