Pretty sure you could have said the same of Amazon at the 15 year point vis-a-vis Borders or Circuit City or any number of large cap competitors who no longer exist. Not saying that Tesla's going to turn out like Amazon, don't have that crystal ball, but that the logic isn't necessarily sound.

  2. I don't think Amazon CEO was misleading investors for years like TSLA CEO does. Plus Amazon had much less competition than Tesla.

Maybe, that's a different line of logic than you were using before though. I'd also maintain that's it's absurd to say selling consumer goods is "less competition" than cars. Ever hear of a little company called Walmart? If you did a Porter's analysis on consumer goods you'd find it's one of the most competitive spots to be in the world, far more so than autos. Again, not saying Tesla will be the next Amazon, just that the logic being used isn't sound which I appreciate having pointed out to me when I start to get emotionally involved in something.

  4. I'm definitely not an expert in consumer goods. And I'm not involved in TSLA or AMZN (or any other company), since I'm trading options only.

But my point is that TSLA investors have blind faith in Elon Musk, which is not even close to any other company. To me, buying a car that has been on the market only few years and paying more than Mercedes or BMW that have history and traditions going back decades, just doesn't make sense. But that's just me.

That line of logic makes sense. The guy's a polarizing figure both directions, seems if you're involved with anything he does you either love him and he can do no wrong or you hate him and he can do no right.

  6. Personally I definitely don't hate him. I think he's a rare bird and world needs visionaries like him. I just don't like the way he treats TSLA investors.

Just like any good cult leader. Bitcoin, Tesla, same difference...

I'd argue that Satoshi Nakamoto is by far the better cult leader since we're not even sure who he is!

  9. Darn, it's going your way right from the open. High of $313 before 10 am.

If another Tesla EV catches fire in a crash before 2 pm, TSLA might just shoot above $320 before close today!

Tesla is firing on all cylinders.

Will TSLA trade above $1000 if 100 Teslas catch fire before leaving the factory?

DETROIT - Under pressure from the U.S. government, Mercedes-Benz is recalling nearly 43,000 tiny Smart cars because they can catch fire.

The recall covers the Smart for two cabrio and coupe cars in the U.S. from the 2008 and 2009 model years. It comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation in 2016.
