All of our FCMs allow IRA accounts: https://optimusfutures.com/Select-Futures-Clearing-Merchant.php I did not word my post very well - I meant to say the only FCM I am aware of that allow futures trading in an IRA without having to setup a custodian account is TDA. The custodian account seems to provide some good advantages like portability and greater choices of what can be traded or invested in.
An interesting thread. Looking over the Interactive Brokers site, it is unclear to me if they still offer direct trading of futures in a Roth IRA, without an outside custodian. Does anybody know if that is still the case? Also, what is their minimum opening balance requirement for such. It can be challenging to get a hold of them by phone these days! I would really prefer to avoid the various annual and other fees if possible. Therefore does anybody know of any other broker/dealers that have the capacity for Roth IRA futures trading directly without a custodian?
