It looks like something made by Hario in Japan. Pretty cool.

You are exactly correct, I had forgotten the box (she who must be obeyed dumps all on me) but Hario alright a "technica".

I'll say one thing for the lockdown, I'm putting a lot more time and attention into cooking and everything else, I'm actually really enjoying it. OK this morning I brine soaked pork chops and slow roasted them in raw honey. Despite warning my father in law the fecker left the kitchen door open and the place filled with bees. Easily 50 of them attracted to the convention oven's waft of honey. Had to smoke the kitchen to disperse them. It was funny after the fact :)

I admin a local group and many expat Americans are going crazy with relative confinement (they can still go out shopping one day a week and now exercise for two hours every day without a dog) but I have spent a lot of time solitary or quiet places, your sailing is good for it also in calm times in sure. Control of one's perception of time is foundational to contentment.

Hunger and death aside, it would be nice to think the world could gain a little sorely needed depth and strength of mind from all this.

    Now for dessert..

Yep, I have a short scalper attention span, professionally. I need something with a little ritual to focus on :)

You are indeed thinking like a day-trader now. Instead of cooking up those chops, you could have held onto them for a couple weeks, and sold them at a 1,000,000% profit as the meat shortages grow. People will pay handsomely for meat even in the best of times. (See Omaha Steaks).

In the worst of times, they will literally kill for it.

  6. Do I see a Japanese tea ceremony ritual in your future? For therapeutic reasons, of course.

One needs to ask What would James Clavell do?

Someone better tell them to use solid copper rounds or they will end up voting for Trump.

Xray your meat. In for a surprise.

I think I'm retired from it now, without the lockdown it may have been hard to break away from it but.. More money that I'll ever need thanks to a VWAP and prior days and a few lines. Scalping is addictive..

If there are meat shortages there will be bleach washed steak about, if it smells like socks it's a new release Trump steak.

Man the novels Tai-pan and Shogun were in the library on our landing at home all my childhood :) I'm not sure if I ever read them, probably just saw the Shogun series. Well I'm a blade maker now (sold my first piece!) so I'll be able to make a cup of Irish Lyons tea (pyramid teabag technology, Irish invention) and ritually disembowel myself like a pro :)

Drink some bleach first to make sure the job is proper.

  9. Shogun is worth reading. I read it twice over the years. I started Tai-Pan several years ago, but for some reason couldn’t quite get into it

Both are good books. You should try Tai-Pan again.
