When the weather is shit sometimes I can barely heat water and throw some instant in it. The good news is that there are some good instant coffees these days. I have wondered about cacao too. Why does it have to go north all the way to Scharffen Berger before it is considered good chocolate?
Chocolate is a science a precise one, the production needs to be kept to within a tenth of a degree C, at least that is what I remember from a tour of the Cadbury's factory. Got to get the glass finish. The big issue is here is storage, they let it get overheated in transit and it seperates, the white bloom of ruin. Mind you Astor is very decent, old Colombian business, as good as most British chocolatiers and their restaurants an oasis. Mind you too.. Argentinian alfajores.. This quitting sugar thing is too much some nights
Maryland has received 'hundreds of calls' about the effectiveness of ingesting disinfectants to treat coronavirus, governor says https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/26/poli...ronavirus-larry-hogan-donald-trump/index.html Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Sunday that his state has received "hundreds of calls" from residents asking about the effectiveness of ingesting disinfectants to treat coronavirus after President Donald Trump dangerously suggested that it could be a possible treatment for the deadly virus. "We had hundreds of calls in our hotline here in Maryland about people asking about injecting or ingesting these disinfectants, which is, you know, hard to imagine that people thought that that was serious. But what people actually were thinking about this, was this something you could do to protect yourself?" Hogan, a Republican, said in an interview on CBS. Trump suggested during a White House coronavirus briefing on Thursday that ingesting disinfectants could possibly be used to treat people who have the virus, prompting cleaning product companies and state health officials to issue warnings about the dangers of doing so. The President also suggested sunlight might be a treatment. Hogan, who has sparred with Trump at times during the crisis, said Sunday it's "always critically important ... for a leader to put out the facts and to be as open and honest and transparent as possible." Also critical for a leader to know when to shut up. Most normal people understand when they are out of their league, and back away from the mic to let the experts talk. Trump is such a megalomaniac that he is unable to to do this. He is compelled to say something - to fill the empty silence with words. This approach works as a CEO, because sycophants don't challenge you in the board room for fear of losing their job. But as the President, this comes off as asinine, embarrassing and inherently dangerous to the world.
I used to have a bit of dark chocolate with some regularity. Very little, and very dark. Although I have to admit that the 90% cocoa content is a bit much. But it has to be at least 75% for my taste buds to stand up and salute. I rarely have any chocolate anymore; in fact I don't remember the last time I had any. But I still put unsweetened baking cocoa in my homemade milkshakes and in my oatmeal. God, I love the taste. As for coffee, I used to drink it every day several years ago, but I drank fairly strong coffee and it stressed me out. Now I only have it on weekends at my favorite cafe -- well not these days, anyway. Espresso long. I actually like the bitter taste; it keeps me from drinking it too fast. Same with the chocolate when I used to indulge. But with all this talk about improved instant coffees, I may have a cup or two before workouts, which are during the week. Now I drink green tea all day. It took some getting used to, but I actually like it now. But, no, it ain't coffee.
I’m not putting Trump in the class of a Dictator, but the sycophantic acquiescent toadying just blocks information flow. It never assisted Saddam Hussein who was kept in the dark regarding the US and allies advance and victory in Iraq. It never assisted Gaddafi. Trump is his own worst enemy and those that aid and abet his simplistic, narcissistic, megalomaniac personality are disgusting. Slime with no backbone.
He takes both sides of everything and depends on people having a two week memory (or in the case of the lads here two day). Anyone who had had dealings with a malignant narcissist knows they are what they are.
A republican governor. But in what, five days now Trump will hint the event never happened, in two weeks after bleachgate... Maybe not this time.
