It’s really all about tracking and testing. For instance, a community in New Rochelle, NY is currently a hot spot. They should lock it down, identify the cases and possible exposures and clear it after 14 days. This takes thousands of tests though which don’t rightly have even though we had 2 months to gear up.

We don’t want to get into regional spread because that’s when things are going to get scary and out of control. Italy is now facing that with travel bans and widespread lockdowns.

China was by far the worst, they had entire cities under total quarantine. They were producing something like 1.4 million tests a week. We cannot let it get there.

I wonder if they’ll bitch about this in California?

The CDC does not have the staff and equipment to handle this right now. Someone cut the pandemic program by 80%.

You didn’t answer the question. How to you force someone an area, into quarantine?

The Fed’s and state governments can certainly force quarantines but we don’t need that now, what we need is tracking and testing. We need to move through tens of thousands of tests a day. Right now we are doing dozens or a couple of hundred a day.

  8. I see. So CNN has stepped in to take over CDC responsibilities.

I will say again for about the fourth time, it seems as though it was just last week that CNN and your lefty buddies were all touting the experts and how they were the authorities and Trump should keep his pie hole shut. Now, when CNN speaks, I learn that there are no experts there in those agencies so we should not listen to them.'

I am going to guess that if the CDC disagrees with Trump later this week, they will suddenly revert back to being the experts and we should be listening to the scientists. We know how the dance works, don't we?

Community spread inside the US was inevitable unless you’re willing to close, seal the borders.....that opportunity has past.

When those tactics were first employed, travel restrictions on certain areas they were met with backlash.

At this point, until we as a society either accept the fact that the virus is here and deal with it as another flu strain, or place into action the draconian measures as China has - we’re just pissing in the wind.

Yes! We need testing. Free immediate testing if we’re gonna slow it down. We need to identify. But at that point, when you know you’re infected...are we really ready to start forcibly shutting in people? Because it only spirals downhill from there - talk about killing the economy. Just the fact of reporting it in your area sends people into panic-mode and herd mentality.

No one can/could be prepared for this. And until we start working together instead of politicizing and blaming, wishing harm on others - won’t get any better. Until we put others well being on the same or higher level than ourselves there’s no end.
