Oh, and then there is this..... https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/08/...me-life-care-center-kirkland-cnntv/index.html First responders were concerned that staff members were not wearing appropriate personal protective equipment to handle the high number of patients with probable coronavirus. They also arrived to the facility to find employees using positive pressure bag valve masks to ventilate potential coronavirus patients -- even though firefighters have been told not to use such masks, as they can disperse more particulate into the air, the responder said.
But....but....but....orange man bad! https://www.newsweek.com/california...s-response-every-single-thing-he-said-1491294 CALIFORNIA'S DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR PRAISES TRUMP'S RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS ON CRUISE SHIP: 'EVERY SINGLE THING HE SAID THEY FOLLOWED THROUGH ON' "We had a private conversation, but he said, 'We're gonna do the right thing' and 'You have my support, all of our support, logistically and otherwise,'" Newsom told reporters at a Monday news conference. "He said everything I could have hoped for," the governor asserted. "And we had a very long conversation and every single thing he said, they followed through on," he noted. "Every single thing... has been consistent with expectation we'd repatriate these passengers and do it in a way that does justice to the spirit that defines the best of our country," the governor said.

newsweek.com Trump approval rating worsens amid coronavirus health emergency By Shane Croucher On 3/11/20 at 5:07 AM EDT President Donald Trump's approval rating has worsened as questions surround his administration's response to the coronavirus outbreak and an economic downturn looms. According to FiveThirtyEight's polling average as of March 10, 53.1 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump and 42.7 percent approve. Trump's post-impeachment trial acquittal peak on February 18 was 51 percent disapproval and 44.6 percent approval, before the coronavirus emergency took hold on U.S. soil. The number of coronavirus cases is growing daily in the U.S. More than a dozen states have declared states of emergency over the coronavirus, including New York and Washington. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the time of writing states there are 647 cases in the U.S. and 25 deaths. A global coronavirus tracker at Johns Hopkins University states that, worldwide, there are more than 119,000 confirmed cases, over 4,200 deaths, and over 65,700 recoveries so far. Critics of the Trump administration accuse it of failing to respond quickly enough to the coronavirus threat, including delays to testing, putting American lives at risk. The president also took criticism for downplaying the coronavirus threat by comparing it to the common flu in a tweet. "I think the U.S. has done a very good job on testing," Trump said at a briefing on Tuesday. "We had to change things that were done, that were nobody's fault. Perhaps they wanted to do something a different way, but it was a much slower process from a previous administration. "And we did change them. We made the changes. But the testing has gone very well. And when people need a test, they can get a test. When the professionals need a test, when they need tests for people, they can get the test. It's gone really well." The global health emergency is causing economic damage through various government efforts to contain the virus, which have left factories, offices, and retail and leisure hubs empty. In response to the threat of a global recession, stock markets and oil prices have fallen sharply. A YouGov poll of 1,000 American adults for Newsy found that both the leading candidates in the Democratic race—former vice president Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders—outperformed Trump on who is best equipped to tackle the coronavirus issue. Biden, the race frontrunner and a moderate, polled at 40 percent against Trump's 34 percent. Sanders, an independent democratic socialist from Vermont, polled at 37 percent against 35 percent for Trump. There is a 3.3 percent margin of error. Polling by Morning Consult found that Trump's coronavirus-related approval rating has declined as the health crisis rolled on. In three separate polls of around 2,000 registered voters, beginning February 7 and ending March 5, Trump's net approval for handling the spread of coronavirus has sunk from plus 40 to plus 2. There is a margin of error of 2 percent. Trump is in talks with Congress about an economic package to help tackle the impacts of the coronavirus on the economy. Among the potential stimulus measures is what Trump described as a "very substantial" cut to payroll tax.
I don't think the payroll tax is anything but pandering. In all seriousness the stock market is not the economy and let it shave off some of the fat it has been building up for years. it cannot keep going up unless it retracts and consolidates so all this panic is just Trump worried about how it reflects on him (market up all his doing, market down blame the Dems). Payroll tax is just going to put a penny or two of money in the billion dollar economy. Just leave shit alone and it will work itself out.
A payroll tax cut is something to consider after we get through this. Right now congress needs to consider direct aid to displaced workers and healthcare support.
