Trump approval at 39 percent as international tensions escalate: poll

By Nikita Vladimirov - 04/14/17 10:18 AM EDT

President Trump's approval rating stands at 39 percent as most Americans agree that tensions around the world are escalating, a new poll finds.

The Marist Institute for Public Opinion survey released on Friday shows that 39 percent of Americans believe that international tensions are on the rise.

According to the poll, 20 percent of responders believe that global tensions are roughly the same as it always is, and only 5 percent think that global tensions are easing.

The survey also found bipartisan agreement on the question of international tensions, with wide majorities of Democrats, Republicans and independents supporting the notion that tensions are on the rise.

According to the poll, 85 percent of Democrats, 70 percent of independents and 64 percent of Republicans are more likely to believe that tensions around the globe are heightened.

Trump's approval rating did not substantially change from the 38 percent approval he received in the same poll last month.

Forty-nine percent of responders currently disapprove of the president's performance, and 12 percent are unsure.

The poll found that 80 percent of Republicans, as opposed to only 12 percent of Democrats, approve of the president.

The Marist Institute surveyed a pool of 1,069 adults between April 11 and 12. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.

I saw a headline today that trump's approval is at 50%.
Its funny because my rating of him is dropping.

but he still far better than hillary because Gorsuch is a member of the sup ct.

    well that makes sense.

if you survey mostly democrats you are going to get whatever rating you wish to find depending on how many you survey and how you wish to blend them into your survey.

for instance the marist survey not only starts off with more democrats it also takes in more democrat leaning independents.

Which is ridiculous given that independents in wisconisn and michigan and pennsylvania were massively in trumps favor... which is probably why he won.

tony why do you keep pointing to fake polls?

Those numbers are misleading, it's probably only the 50% who voted for him.

headlines: According to a recent survey Trump still hasn't won over any new voters.

  7. Hillary nor Trump received 50% of the vote, so obviously he has won over some new voters if his job approval is at 50%

In one poll.Since Trump has become president only 1 RCP polling company has had Trump at 50 or higher,Rasmussen.Out of over 80 other polls since Trump has been president no other RCP poll has had Trump at or above a 50% approval rating
