All that is being lost is a fictionalised history of the South made by some socialite ladies, taking off in the early 20th century. There is no moral authority in how these were erected. Don't waste the public spaces on a fake past, put up real people (who were usually killed due to the fake past). Pseudohistory is not just about Ancient Aliens and Antisemitic Khazar theory and others. Trump himself joined in on the trend with his "River of Blood" memorial plaque to a civil war battle that never happened (at a golf course). https://www.golfdigest.com/story/de...morating-civil-war-battle-that-never-happened
There’s fringe extremists on both sides. Doesn’t mean it’s a rallying cry for everyone who lives in the south.

Yes I said a group because I have spent time in the South and it is not the majority or most by any means. Most Southerners don't even pay it any mind but I think only the few vocal ones object to seeing their beloved rebel leaders taken down haha.
John Barron then Barron Trump, his trying to steal the life of Barron Hilton by copying his achievements is quite extraordinary. This is worth a read, if you know Donny's history you will see how he made his a cheap copy of Barron's life. Except for the flying, if Donny had tried to fly a plane we would not have him around to pester us. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barron_Hilton
The ideas of the confederacy are here today, thats why there are so many flags and love for the monuments by republicans.
Supportering the Confederacy does say a lot about a persons character just as supporting the Nazi's does.
Polls consistently show 55-90% of republicans support the monuments staying up.Confederacy symbols are quite prevalent in the south on homes, cars clothes etc
