Well then that's just idiotic. If you're going to create jobs simply for the sake of creating jobs then build renewable energy, we'll be far better of over the long run, in terms of energy independence, decrease in price volatility, and lack of pollution, both planned and unplanned (when's the last time we suffered a solar panel spill?).
Yes. Saudi price advantage comes from feedstock. Despite some of the cheapest natural gas in the world, chemicals derived from those feedstocks are still more expensive here than what you can buy in china. It's not because of labor. While the political part of this whole thread is stupid (creating jobs and Trump taking credit for it), the plans to build this refinery were started years ago as fracking proved to be a potential game changer. That's not necessarily stupid.
Oil is just a word for energy. Agree, USA wants to be energy independent. Any geographic area the size of USA should be energy independent. Something as important as energy you make yourself.
