So these violent protestors summon Waymo cars just so they can destroy them. There are reports that Waymo has suspended service in LA.

LA Protesters Just Destroyed Several Waymo Self-Driving Cars That Were Collectively Worth At Least $600,000

Waymo, Google's autonomous mobility-focused startup, has been caught in the middle of the anti-deportation mass protests that are currently taking place in Los Angeles.

To wit, as per the news that is just trickling in, some LA protesters summoned Waymo vehicles and then went about systematically destroying them.

As per initial reports, as many as 5 Waymo vehicles, collectively worth around $600,000, are believed to have been destroyed.

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, Waymo currently provides ride-hailing services via a fleet of autonomous vehicles in Phoenix (Arizona), Los Angeles (California), San Francisco (California), and Austin (Texas). By the end of 2025, Waymo plans to expand its services to 10 new cities, including Las Vegas and San Diego.

Currently, Waymo's autonomous fleet is almost exclusively made up of Jaguar I-Pace vehicles that are equipped with an expensive array of sensors, including LiDAR, 360-degree view cameras, and a radar, all feeding into onboard compute resources.

In this respect, Waymo's approach to autonomous driving is markedly different from that of Tesla's, which leverages an interconnected neural network along with cameras that are supposedly capable of counting individual photons.

Bear in mind that Tesla is expected to debut its unsupervised FSD on the Model Y in Austin, Texas, next week, concurrent with the launch of between 10 and 20 robotaxis. By the end of 2025, the EV giant intends to roll out this service to a number of US cities.

Coming back, X and other social media platforms are currently being flooded with dramatic footage of Waymo vehicles on fire, as well as those that were seemingly mangled with batons and baseball bats.

As per preliminary reports, at least some skirmishes with the LAPD have also taken place.

Trump didn't pardon anyone in LA.

And FYI, I don't condone burning cars, looting or anything like that and it should be stopped.

So i ask again. Was Jan6 an insurrection? its a yes or no answer.

One amusing point in these protests was the lady who was carrying a Palestinian flag. I can understand Mexican flags, Venezuelan flags, and the flags of Central & South American flags. But a Palestinian flag? What does Gaza have to do with immigration protests? I think this lady is at the wrong protest.

Let's see what the LAPD Police Chief has to say...

LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell Says, 'Violence I Have Seen is Disgusting,' Recounting Attacks on Cops
The city's top cop said Sunday night that federal authorities did not brief the Los Angeles Police Department on the clandestine raids that have descended the city into chaos
    https://lamag.com/news/lapd-chief-j...seen-is-disgusting-recounting-attacks-on-cops

The city's top cop held a press conference Sunday night urging Angelenos to end the ugly violence that has thrust the city into chaos telling reporters, "things have gotten out of control," adding that "somebody could easily be killed," by the actions of some of the agitators who are attacking law enforcement officials.

LAPD officers - and other law enforcement officials - have been targeted by protestors who have aimed and released "commercial grade fireworks" at cops, who also came under fire from hurled concrete blocks hammered from government buildings. California Highway Patrol Officers came under attack from protestors who threw scooters, street signs, and large blocks at them from an overpass, destroying multiple vehicles parked along the 101. The officers were forced to take cover from the violence overhead, and several narrowly missed being hit by fireworks and blocks, which was captured live by KTLA.

"The people who are out there doing the violence...they have a hoodie on, they have a a face mask on...these are people who do this all the time," McDonnell said of the most violent protestors, who said "many come in from other places just to hurt people and cause havoc."

McDonnell added, "the violence I have seen is disgusting."

Despite the vandalism, attacks on police, and random acts of mayhem throughout DTLA, which included the torching of six Waymo autonomous cars - roughly ten arrests were made on Sunday, and 29 arrests Saturday night. CHP made 17 arrests when protestors blocked the 101 freeway. One man, officials said, was charged with throwing a molotov cocktail at a police officer. Another was arrested after he charged at a police barricade with his motorcycle at full speed.

The chaos has intensified since protestors took to the streets Friday in response to a series of clandestine raids across Los Angeles that led to dozens of arrests, and a fiery response from the heavily immigrant population of the city. McDonnell made it clear that the LAPD does not make immigration arrests, but the department does not prevent federal officials from doing their job either.

"They have their mission...they have every right to do that," McDonnell said of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who have fanned out across L.A., ripping people out of their workplaces and descending on Home Depot parking lots. But, McDonnell said, federal officials did not brief his department, which made it difficult to respond to the mobs of people who began to protest.
