Who is approving his approach to these tarriffs? I never knew we could just switch on tarriffs without it going to the senate or house like they do when they vote on all other issues. As long as these tarriffs are enacted equities will continue to plummet
"NEWSWEEK Can Congress Stop Tariffs? Legally, Congress holds the constitutional power to levy tariffs. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution grants Congress authority "to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises." But over the past century, lawmakers have gradually ceded much of this power to the executive branch through legislation. As detailed by the National Constitution Center, current law provides six key statutes that allow the president to impose tariffs, either with or without prior investigation. These include Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which allows tariffs based on national security grounds, and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA), which Trump recently invoked to justify levies on Canada, Mexico, and China. The IEEPA enables the president to declare a national emergency and impose tariffs without a congressional vote—unless Congress terminates the emergency via joint resolution. "President Trump was the first chief executive to use this act in February 2025," noted the Constitution Center." https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-tariffs-congress-senate-stop-vote-2054671 Didn't we have that some decades earlier in Germany... An elected leader using emergency powers to... well ya know lol
As Trump imposed tariffs across the globe, a rare fissure appeared within Republican ranks, with a handful of GOP senators breaking from party lines to oppose what they see as an economically destabilizing policy. On Wednesday, the Senate voted 51–48 to end tariffs on Canadian imports, a move championed by Democratic Senator Tim Kaine and backed by Republicans Susan Collins and Rand Paul. Yet the measure is expected to stall in the House, where Republican leadership remains tightly aligned with Trump. Amid debate over the rule that set up a floor vote on the continuing resolution to keep the government open through Sept. 30, the chamber’s “traffic cop” committee slipped in a provision which stipulates that for the remainder of the first session of the 119th Congress, there would be no more calendar days — at least as far as President Donald Trump’s emergency tariffs are concerned. The language included in the rule for the CR paused “calendar days” under a national emergencies law, effectively curbing House Democrats’ ability to force a vote on whether to terminate three national emergencies Trump declared on Feb. 1, 2025, to launch a maelstrom of tariffs directed at Canada, Mexico and China. https://rollcall.com/2025/03/18/house-majority-rules-when-a-calendar-day-isnt-what-it-seems/
Trump tariffs: 'There will be blood', JPMorgan warns of economic anxiety, 60% global recession odds There is growing economic unease on Wall Street in response to Donald Trump's recent implementation of widespread tariffs, prompting leading banks to issue warnings of a possible recession. According to a report from Bloomberg, JPMorgan's Chief Economist Bruce Kasman has estimated a 60% likelihood of a global recession in 2025, a significant increase from the previous forecast of 40%. Kasman emphasized the potential amplification of the tariff effects through retaliatory measures, decreased US business sentiment, and disruptions in the supply chain, as outlined in his publication titled "There Will Be Blood." https://www.msn.com/en-in/money/eco...-anxiety-60-global-recession-odds/ar-AA1ChCUQ China has just now retaliated in equal measure tariff wise. Whats Don Donaldo gonna do... Hit back with a 50% counter-counter strike ??? And then ? And then ? True and Very Stable Genius at work. lol

Didn't his second wife cheat on him with his/her bodyguard? Many guys cannot keep their dicks in their pants and are still reasonably honest and smart. His philandering was the least of his flaws. But hey, at least you start to see it.
Musk and Thiel/Vance (Trump) are thinking ahead (they will need manufacturing at-scale within the US). Also, drones and drone armies are going to play an increasing role in future warfare. Robotics and automated labor will become commoditized and exploited for commercial, national security, and technological ends. Americans can maybe become technicians and machinists, aiding a new AI workforce (that is being produced at hugely disruptive rates). Musk is a visionary. He can see that robots change everything. Robots can replace (and surpass) any benefit third world labor could yield, easily. Who wins the Ai arms race if the US can't even manufacture a 'body' for the fucking Ai to use? China. Without a major change to the global trade arena, the US won't win, they will be caught trying to 're-industrialize' right when the tech is being exploited for economic gain and security gains. Given America's dominant position (a unique opportunity in history), it would be quite foolish to fuck up an AI arms race. And for what? Trade relations? Cheaper prices at Wal-Mart? I doubt Trump will back down.
The real world has no time for Trump or your grandiose delusions. Seriously, some people just fk things up Trump's been putting businesses under repeatedly. There is no rational basis for his trade policy.
