What I am outlining is basic federal employment law and HR best practices for employers that any legal firm specializing in employment law will provide as proper guidance. All of this is covered in courses like "Managing within the Law" (which I had to take at multiple employers as a manager in my career) which outlines the key principles of written documentation, addressing harassment, proper escalation, and avoiding discriminatory decisions/practices.
What I'm outlining is: What was legal/illegal in the firing of the actress. She was legally fired. Cite anything that refutes this claim. I'm not interested in your theories about what should be.
Let's move on to yet another example of Cancel Culture this week -- where the host of the Bachelor was sent packing for simply defending current contestant Rachael Kirkconnell after photos resurfaced of her attending an "Old South" themed party at a plantation in 2018. All he did was ask for grace in offering her an opportunity to speak on her own behalf. Yet this was someone deemed offensive and the internet cancel culture crowd fired up to get him removed from the show. Despite his best efforts to apologize, the cancel culture crowd piled on and he was forced out of his job. 'Bachelor' host Chris Harrison 'stepping aside' following backlash over racism controversy The 'Bachelor' host faced backlash this week for attempting to defend contestant Rachael Kirkconnell amid her photo controversy https://www.foxnews.com/entertainme...on-stepping-aside-backlash-racism-controversy Yes... Cancel Culture is out of control. It has reached to point of absurdity where actors can't like parody articles, comedians can't tell jokes, and entertainers can't urge an audience to allow an individual to speak for themselves & refuse to judge them.
Pennsylvania is an at will state. So, you believe the boss shouldn't be able to hire/fire at will, in at-will states? So you essentially believe in socialism? You essentially believe that employees should be able to say and do anything, and their employer shouldn't be able to fire them? Either you are a socialist, or not. You can't have it both ways. Tell us what you really believe in!
Why don't you take it up with the EEOC and all the people who wrote the federal employment discrimination laws. "At-will" does not give the employer the right to fire someone on a discriminatory basis. Are you trying to claim that any type of laws that restrict an employer from hiring/firing people at will is a form of socialism? Obviously this is your claim. --- And I am stating that your definition of "at-will" is not correct. At-will means that an employer can terminate an employee at any time for any reason, except an illegal one as defined by the EEOC or federal/state employment discrimination laws, without incurring legal liability. Likewise, an employee is free to leave a job at any time for any or no reason with no adverse legal consequences.
How many times do I need to say it: POLITICAL AFFILIATION IS NOT PROTECTED UNDER TITLE VII The bitch was fired. Period. You're crying about it like a little bitch. You want to ban cancel culture. But cancel culture is what the free market is about. Bosses can fire and hire at will, in at-will states. So, are you for continuing the free market, or do you want to impart some sort of socialism to protect your favorite actors from being canceled? Either you do, or you don't.
Nope.He defended racism. As a society there should be no tolerance for that. On a side note its interesting that a clearly racist trump supporting white women would date a black man if it gets her on tv.Her Trump supporting daddy was likely furious. https://www.tiktok.com/@feministmam...r_device=pc&sender_web_id=6898611056530589189
This is not about political affiliation. It is about applying the same policies equally to all of their employees. In this case they applied a workplace policy to one employee who was a female and did not apply the policy to a male. This is irrespective of the political affiliation or views for the employees. The actions are discriminatory. In a normal workplace situation this would be a clear situation leading to EEOC action and the risk of the terminated employee suing. Of course, in this particular situation we are talking about a star in Hollywood. Most likely Gina Carano has a contract for the Mandalorian. Likely there is a payout when the contract was terminated. Most likely lawyers on both sides are involved in determining the payout size and it comes with a written agreement from her not to sue -- plus other clauses to not badmouth LucasFilm, etc.
