why on earth would we need more immigrants? Humanitarian reasons is one thing. But, we don't need more immigrants and anchor babies til our economy can provide well for the ones already here. I standard of living is collapsing.

I thought we wanted to see wages increase for the people we already had here.
you want more immigrants into a nation where robots will be replacing workers any day now?

I detest mantras without thoughts be spewed by lefties. Right now we have one of the largest populations of immigrants in our country in decades.

America’s Immigrant Population Reaches All-Time High—45.6 Million People
    ...
In fact, the number is likely even higher: the Department of Homeland Security estimates that some 1.9 million immigrants are missed by the ACS surveys. Given this fact, there are likely over 45.6 million immigrants currently residing in America.

This figure includes both legal and illegal immigrants, although the number of illegals is likely underestimated by a significant margin.

Not only is the absolute number of immigrants at an all-time high, but so is the share of immigrants as a percent of the population (the colonial era excluded). Right now America’s immigrant population makes up 14.1 percent of the nation—back in 1970 it was just 4.7 percent.

We are very quickly approaching the peak of 14.7 percent back in the 1910s, just following the great Irish and Italian migration waves. Displayed graphically:

    Quick housekeeping item:
--When a person leaves a country to settle elsewhere, they emigrate from that country. When someone comes to a country to settle, they immigrate.
--You'll notice that the US does not have an emigration issue. There is a reason for that---(and Morlibons know what it is).

We don't need more poor immigrants. We need immigrants that will add value to the country (i.e., money investment, education, skills).

Without immigrants we would shrink in population and productivity. Our population is aging and our birth rate is low. Immigration increases the number of working age Americans and offsets the per capita cost of taking care of the elderly.

Cutting immigration would have a severe impact on our long term economic outlook. This is what happened to Japan.

  7. Yep, they're all engineers and doctors, just like every dead thug in Chicago was an honor student destined for medical school. Isn't anyone complaining about the literate, educated legal immigrants who are eager to assimilate. It's the other 95% who bring nothing to the table and then demand we bend over backwards to accommodate them. BTW, coming here illegally is a criminal act. What the left wants is to decriminalize that.
