So your issue is that politicians and media pundits should not be hyping drugs as a cure. I agree with this. They also should not be saying anything "won't work". This gets back to expertise, and neither group has it when it comes to medicine. I assume you apply your critical opinions to both sides of the argument, not just one.

However, they will not stop on either front. That's kind of the way life goes.

If you are stating that politicians and media pundits should not be hyping a drug as a cure or stating a drug won't work then I agree with you.

When it comes to medicine the politicians should place the medical expert on stage to provide any necessary explanations to reporters. Or at least only provide the bare facts provided to them by medical experts while citing the source. Without any type of hyping for or against a treatment.

You're the one who said it first. I'm just agreeing with you.

I'm also saying it won't stop, unfortunately.

I agree with you that it appears it won't stop - in our absurd political environment where "supporting" hydroxycloroquine makes you a "Trumper" and "supporting" any other medicine makes you an "anti-Trumper" is the height of silliness.

They should leave medicine to medical experts. Proper medical studies should show what existing drugs (if any) are effective in treating COVID-19 eventually. In the meantime - move forward with the studies, move forward with FDA Emergency Use Authorizations for possible candidates, and allow doctors to prescribe these authorized medicines & provide feedback to proper medical/drug agencies.

Agreed 100%. I'll go one step further and say that NONE of the discussion on the virus should be about whether it helps or hurts Trump. It should simply be a discussion on facts and information available, with the understanding that information is likely to change and is likely flawed as it is incomplete. It shouldn't be a right/left GOP/DNC thing. Talk about taking your eye off the ball. I see these stupid comments about how this is a virus that only kills GOP members, or Trump is being attacked by the media and it is their fault he is saying stupid crap...so stupid.

But haters are gonna hate, no matter what political spectrum they hail from.

Let's see how Dr. Vladimir “Zev” Zelenko -- the hydroxychloroquine peddler is doing today.

Oh, he got the boot from his Jewish community, lost his job as a doctor in Monroe,, and is being investigated by a Federal prosecutor for false claims.

Hasidic NY Doctor Who Promoted Hydroxychloroquine Use Against Coronavirus Leaves Jewish Community

A controversial Hasidic doctor in New York who promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine as part of a drug cocktail to treat the coronavirus has left the Jewish community, the Forward reports. Dr. Vladimir “Zev” Zelenko, a longtime medical practitioner in Monroe, New York, whose work has gotten shout-outs on Fox News and who was reportedly in touch with the White House, said that hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, and zinc sulfate, when taken together, would help treat the new coronavirus. He claimed that he had used the drugs to treat more than 300 patients. Community leaders had lambasted him, saying he spread misinformation, and a Baltimore federal prosecutor is investigating his claim that the drugs he promoted had received approval from the Food and Drug Administration. “It’s with a broken heart that I have to say this, but I have decided to leave Monroe after almost two decades of working as a doctor, taking care of the community, most recently with this terrible magefah [plague],” he reportedly wrote on Whatsapp to Hasidic groups.
