You moan about the wrong things, the obvious things of course. This election I put time and ideas into the Nebraska Senate race to unseat an incumbent with an independent. I strongly disagree with parties using election finance coercion to create a unified platform, robbing voters of their representative acting on own judgement.

Dan Osborn is a literal machine mechanic and the slogan was that Washington is broken, it needs a mechanic. He is blue collar but very clever and government has too many slick talkers, lawyers and such like Gaetz. Talkers, not real world practical solution engineering guys.

He finished with 46.67% of the popular up against incumbent Deb Fischer. That's way way better than anybody expected. The model can work.

My regret is I didn't go up there door knocking myself but I was needed here.

I remember complaints here at the forum about Matt Gaetz when he was elected to Congress for the first time—to the U.S. House of Representatives back in 2016. The complaints were mainly by members who support Democrats but also by a few Republican members.

If I remember correctly, Matt Gaetz was as unpopular in 2016 as he's been every year after 2016 especially when the news first broke about sexual misconduct allegations against him. Usually, that's a career killer in politics but Gaetz, Trump, and a few others became more popular...both bragged about it too.

Yet, to be fair, it finally caught up to Gaetz here in 2024 but not at the hands of Democrats...it was Republicans demanding to see the Ethics Committee report on Gaetz so that they can be better informed about Gaetz going into a confirmation process to decide YEAH or NAY in his confirmation process for the top dog as Attorney General (AG).

I believe Marjorie Taylor Greene doomed Gaetz with her threat to release a list of Republicans who have sexual misconduct allegations that the public is not aware of but only the Ethics Committee is aware of. Simply, she made a political strategy error in trying to protect her boy Gaetz...it backfired.

I think the Republicans (knives out by supporters of McCarthy) put pressure on Gaetz and probably Trump too after he realized he may have exposed other Republicans after the threat from Marjorie Taylor Greene.

In college, I lived on a Fraternity/Sorority street in a condo smack in the middle of the craziness. Gaetz reminds me of some of those frat guys I partied with but disliked and some of my rowing teammates who used their looks & family connections to get what they wanted.

The writing was on the wall for Gaetz when he went after Kevin McCarthy in shit dumping that ousted Republican Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker...it created lines being drawn within the party, and internal disputes within the party that lead to a poor performance of the 118th Congress since the Richard Nixon years.

I remember watching a live stream of the RNC and there was this confrontation between McCarthy and Gaetz. Gaetz became a smart-ass and did not want McCarthy at the RNC.

My first thought was that the Republican supporters of McCarthy would go after Gaetz to minimize his role in politics regardless if Trump won or Harris won.

Democrats were not needed for Gaetz to implode after Trump's and Greene's political strategy errors. As one McCarthy supporter stated...knives were out.

McCarthy was probably sitting back and sipping on a glass of vintage wine as Gaetz self-destructed after the RNC confrontation.

  3. I appreciate the time you put into your posts, but at the end of the day you're just pointing out the dirty game of politics.
While it agree Gaetz is a slug, simple making an accusation should not be enough to destroy a person's career and reputation. There needs to be enough solid evidence to bring a case to court. If not, then it's just something to use as a political weapon.
I do not want to live in a country where accusations are enough for the mob to grab a rope with a noose. I'm confident you and Tux aren't interested in that either.

  4. But weren't you convinced that Hillary Clinton was guilty of some crime or other?

The point of my posts was to point out that the problems for Gaetz were within the GOP from his Republican colleagues...like the ousted Kevin McCarthy...the Democrats sat back and watched Gaetz implode while enjoying his self-destruction or maybe enjoying the knives out by Kevin McCarthy.

The issue for me is beyond Gaetz.

It's the unknown sexual misconduct allegations that the few seem to be aware of that are unknown to the American public about our Republican congressional members as described by Marjorie Taylor Greene (R).

My curiosity goes further. Were any of those individuals from MTG's list selected by Trump to be in charge of other government agencies?
