It's too easy to game. The government controls voting after all. Do you want the "radical dems" having the power to digitally alter voting next time around?

That makes so much sense to me. I'm beginning to think that the reason we can't do it is because doing it the way you suggest would make it too hard to cheat.

So, the current reality is the Republicans are the party that needs to cheat. But in just a few years that could change, and its the Democrats that need to cheat. So neither party may be inclined to modernize the way we vote. Another snafu is that our Constitution leaves the details of voting up to the States. So the Federal Government can only suggest when it comes to how the States do their voting -- unless of course the States are a little too obvious about violating the Constitution.. For example, changing the number of polling places from 10 to 1 and moving that one place ten miles out of town and only announcing the new location on a placard at the local Steinway dealer.

So here's my thought on one way to implement modernization in the next two decades or so. If we can somehow get totally unified government by the party that currently does not need to cheat, we might be able to get them to forget that the shoe will be on the other foot soon enough. If so, we could get the federal government to offer, as an option, fool proof internet voting to all the States with the security of a national vote clearing agency tied into the social security data base for confirmation purposes. [If we'd have had that System in place back when Lyndon was running he might never have made it to Congress!]

If we don't get unified government, naturally the party in the minority will block voting reform. Assuming both Houses and the White house are all controlled by the same party, however, it becomes at least a possibility. Of course, initially only the few totally Blue States will opt in and adopt internet voting. However, in time the people in the Purple and Red States will get so pissed that they can't vote over the internet, like their Blue State Rivals, that they will demand of their politicians that they be allowed to join the Blue States in internet voting. And ever so slowly, one by one, the other States will be forced to adopt internet voting. The pace will be similar too, but even slower than the pace at which the Red States expanded medicaid. But over time, even the Purple and Red States will modernize voting despite their inability to jigger the system. They'll do it for the same reasons we don't deliver the mail by pony any more...

What is somewhat more likely, however, is Blue States, one by one, adopting internet voting on their own with minimal Federal help. This won't be as fool and fraud -proof as having a national clearing data base and voter confirmation, but it would at least be baby steps away from utter stupidity.

DemoCraps want to bypass this so they can commit fraud "at will" to win elections.

DemoCrap politicians... (A) want power, regardless... no matter what, and (B) see the populace as slave/tax donkeys to support the financial and power wants/desires of DemoCrap elites. Period!!

And they are willing to inflict ANY damage upon us all... even BURN THE COUNTRY TO THE GROUND... so long as they get to "rule over the ashes".

They are truly America's "enemy within"... no less evil than Stalin or Hitler.
