Trump openly admits to being a nationalist

  1. Oh I think I understand that. My g.g.g.g.g.g, etc father was in Rhode Island and Massachusetts Regiments before they were incorporated into the Continental Army. But thanks for the history lesson. And their reluctance to develop the Continental Army was related to a fear of who would have control of an independent America, not that they wanted America to be some kind of global shake and bake bar. They feared that united government with a standing army could take a wrong turn and end out like living under the British Crown again.

And your point makes my point- not yours. The founders were fiercely nationalist and loyal to what they considered their country to be- which was their colony at the time. They were not saying "hey we dont want to have an independent America- we are global citizens." The whole history of the revolution and the constitution was about not being immediately willing to give up nationalist loyalties. If any of the Canadian wackjobs here knew their own history and the long dance with the Quebecois, they could tell you more about nation within a nation nationalism. But they don't. And most of them-exceptions noted- are fake Canadians. I have the Canadian DNA- they dont.

This basically was not settled until after the Civil War. It was only then that the country became THE United States rather than THESE United States. You may recall that Lincoln originally offered Command of the Union Army to Robert E. Lee. - to which Lee replied (might be exact or paraphrased) "I cannot abandon my country." His "country" being Virginia.

You’re lucky this country lets foreigners own property or the whole gift that keeps on giving would be in the toilet.

Japan is one of the most prosperous country on the planet! What is not mentioned by liberal media is they are very nationalistic! They love their country that they patronize their products! China which liberals side with in the tariff wars with the US, is very nationalistic! Do what you do in the US and tear down their flag or disrespect their national anthem and see what they do to you! How about South Korea or North Korea? Both will kill you if you disrespect their country and flag! Switzerland which is the richest country on the planet and a socialist country is very nationalistic! So, nationalistic that they will not sign any unfair trade deals hurting their country! Remember who else is negotiating for fair trade deals? President Donald Trump because he is nationalistic and loves the USA! Nothing wrong with that! Why do you think the Swiss people refused to join the European Union? They do not want their country to be put under the control of the European Union and love their country too much and nationalistic!

Another dumb thread blown out of context. Nationalism, in Trump-speak, means he's for America first. So what.

    Only globalists need fear that.

Maybe thats because we spend over a trillion dollars per year on national defense, law enforcement, and infrastructure; among other things.
But I hear land's cheap in Guatemala and the Honduras.

Let’s say this is true and Trump is too stupid to understand what nationalism actually is, as you suggest.

Him claiming to be a nationalist makes him a standard in which real nationalists can rally around and push their very dangerous and very anti-American ideology into our discourse.

I’m here for you. What a mess you’ve spun in the above. I don’t really know where to begin because it is all over the place so I will just reiterate this country is actually a union of states, not built on common ancestry and any other of that right wing culture garbage you puke faces claim. It was made law of the land that individual freedoms are above national interest in the bill of rights.

This idea that Trump is some kind of benign nationalist and that Thomas Jefferson co-signs this fucked up idea makes me puke as an American.

F*ck nationalism. Keep that garbage out of America.
