The reality is that Brendon Urie has not control over his song being used. The song is licensed to the arena as part of a playlist. It can be played at any event in the arena. He can make noise about not playing this song -- but the Trump campaign can have the song played at any arena they hold a rally in that has licensed the song in a playlist.
While sometimes true, the campaign has not been shy about playing songs they have no license to or have paid no royalties for. Par for the course for a criminal organization in power with no regard for the rule of law.
Seeing that just about every arena in the U.S. licenses the same song list... and the Trump campaign rallies have been held in these arenas with the licensing..... then the campaign has nothing to do with paying license fees or royalties. Can you site one example of the Trump campaign playing songs they have no license to or have paid no royalties for in an arena. Despite previous claims like this and noise from the left -- the reality is that all the previous assertions were proven false since the arena holds the playlist license for every event held there.
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...letter-for-playing-aerosmith-at-rally-714395/ “By using ‘Livin’ On The Edge’ without our client’s permission, Mr. Trump is falsely implying that our client, once again, endorses his campaign and/or his presidency, as evidenced by actual confusion seen from the reactions of our client’s fans all over social media,” the cease-and-desist letter stated. “This specifically violates Section 43 of the Lanham Act, as it ‘is likely to cause confusion, or to cause mistake, or to deceive as to the affiliation, connection, or association of such person with another person.'” The letter also notes that Trump’s team has ignored the previous cease-and-desist from 2015, making this latest violation a “willful infringement. “What makes this violation even more egregious is that Mr. Trump’s use of our client’s music was previously shut down, not once, but two times, during his campaign for presidency in 2015,” the letter continued.
Yes... and tell us how this case was settled. Oh wait... the courts laughed and would not take the case -- since the music was licensed to the arena. They can send all the cease & disist letters they want. These letters are effectively litter than can be chucked out the window and ignored.
Actually, Trump stopped playing Aerosmith's music so the letter was sufficient and didn't go to court as Trump had a losing case. Donnie Butthurt still cried after his legal team explained this:
