You will never establish a permanent solution to the problem until you stop the influx of illegal immigrants. Either enforce the rule of law, this also applies to those who hire illegal immigrants, or capitulate legally and open the border. The later is a slap in the face to those who came to this country legally and will further lead our county into its fiscal demise.
OK, so the answer is "now." Good. that's reasonable. We can not, and are not, going to deport people who came here as children, have grown up here, and know no other country than this one. Nor are their parents going to be kicked out. The time to do that has long expired.
DACA and Open Borders are separate issues. At some point you have to draw a line and say no more. The time for that has long expired.
The time to draw the line is now! It has not expired. But we most have rules that are reasonable , otherwise they won't be enforceable. I don't know of anyone who favors "open borders," in a literal sense. There is bound to be one or two nuts that I haven't met yet, of course. "Open Borders" is like "defund the police". they are expressions only useful for Trump rallies. The people who might use these expressions in a serious way mean something very different from what a simple literal interpretation of these words might suggest. In the same way, DACA kids are not going to be ejected from he country, the borders are not going to be open either, not in the literal sense. It is pointless to get upset about either of these things that are not happening. The details need be worked out, that's all... In the meantime, we do have something serious to consider : When, and how, are we going to get a uniform, coordinated effort to fight Covid started in the country? Looks like that may have to wait until next January. I hope we are not all dead by then.
Hate to break it to you but “Open Borders” and “Defund the Police” are more than some obscure mantras floating around in the minds of conservatives. They are rallying cries from your Democratic party describing a desired outcome. When an illegal immigrant is protected, given safe harbor and encouraged - what is it other than an open border. The plight of DACA recipients is an ongoing debate, yes there needs to be something done for those original recipients who have successfully assimilated into our culture, but a blanket invitation for everyone who’s inside our borders is unacceptable. As for Covid, does the CDC have posted guidelines?
Again we are talking 10-20 years ago. Those people need to be protected because the time to act is long past.
That won't happen. That's Trump groupie talk. The only legislation that has a chance to get through is reasonable legislation. If you believe what a Jackass says you'll start sounding like a Jackass. Im not talking about DACA recipients here, this happens daily in sanctuary communities concerning individuals who have been deported on multiple occasions.
