I dont know that. It could work both ways. You keep pointing out that in order to gain anything on immigration reform, Trump needs to start offering up other items because dems dont care anything about immigration reform. I say it works both ways because Trump can and will start vetoing bills that have nothing to do with immigration in order to get cooperation on immigration. Works both ways. In addition, I will say what I have consistently said for a long, long time: Dems are idiots to not deal with Trump on daca before the court gets around to it, apparently thinking that the court decision will give them more leverage, rather than Trump. Stupid on steroids. You would have to have had a big bowl of stupid to believe that. Trump may lose some things now but is going to extra his pound of flesh back after the court ruling. But you and your ilk are giggling because you see me assuming that you guys give a shit about daca and you know you dont. As here4richter likes to point out once a week, the dems are playing three dimensional chess and hispanics, blacks, government workers, and anyone else they allegedly represent are just their pawns. Classy bunch.
You’re forgetting one important thing, the people are behind the democrats. Trump vetoing popular legislation isn’t doing jacksquat except making it easier for a democrat to take the presidency and sign said popular legislation. You guys are in a weak position and have chosen a terrible battlefield. Start thinking about what you want to give up or we can just meander to 2020 when the senate map is favorable to dems and who knows what kind of condition Trump will be in.
If Trump takes care of business for the country the way he should it will undoubtedly lead to his being primaried, possibly successfully. Make sure you have thought that through if you are rooting for it. The dem team has nothing but clowns to put up who have no platform other than "I am not Trump." Howd that work for Hillary? Oh, that's right, she actually won, blah, blah, blah. Sure but who is watching Price is Right today? Trump or Hillary?
You don't have the fence the 1,260 mile portion of the border that runs along the Rio Grande. Just claim you tossed batches of Piranha in it and the problem is solved. See I am always looking for cost effective solutions.
Ok. I think it’s safe to say, as conditions stand right now, we are more likely to have an election like one that brought in Obama than Trump in 2020 but things can change. I don’t know if you play poker, but there’s a lot of power in being the short stack because you get to choose the battlefield in which you want to gamble. If Trump and republicans were serious about this they would start moving the battlefield to something like student loans to get the people behind a deal. Right now their only offer is releasing hostages. Everyone knows it and the vast majority don’t like it.
Did you see that piece on Hannity yesterday? Sara Carter went down to the border to scout around and do some reporting. She ran into a couple guys from Bangladesh who tried to surrender to her thinking she was border patrol or law enforcement. Poor bastards paid 15,000 a piece to get there, buying out all the various types along the way. Yeh sure. Just mexicans and central americans crossing over. OR NOT.
Nope. Big mistake for Trump or the Republicans to try to get votes they are never going to get and let the dems draw them into dem-lite. Even the dems have found that to be a losing strategy. The ones having success are the ones who just ran as progressives and did not try to be dnc dem or moderate. Of course that works better in congressional districts than it does in national elections.
