Abortions have increased, not decreased since Roe was reversed. There is no Federal right to an abortion and SCOTUS got it right by ruling that it's up to the states to decide. The Marxists here are very misinformed.

  4. I agree, integration idea worked for people in NY but they were not big fans of it in Mississippi so we should let the states choose which rights they want to protect amirite?

The SC has stepped in numerous times to protect rights that states were not protecting equally. No where in the constitution does it say that Blacks have a right to go to school where ever whites do and when the constitution was written Blacks were not even considered people but the SC found in its interpretation of 14th Amendment that segregation violated their constitutional rights. They stepped in and didnt leave it to the states.

The Constitution does not protect gay people's rights and states decided for themselves who would make gay sex illegal and who would not. The SC stepped in and realized the states could not do that for themselves when it came to rights of privacy, and in another case over contraceptives.

I have no problem with any person's personal and political belief on abortion, but when people pick and choose how they want to support the role of the states and the SC it gets kind of hypocritical.

  5. without a huge hassle? who decides what is a hassle? Is a background check a huge hassle? Is verifying if you are a convicted felon a hassle? Is carrying a permit a hassle?

If we are going by what the Constitution says, it says arms....arms were understood at the time to mean rifles. Why is it ok to lock into strict reading when convenient but adapt to modern day when it is convenient?

I have no issue with the 2nd Amendment but its not an absolute right no matter what the less educated here on constitutional law say.

I am going to say something that will blow your mind.....The rights in the BoR are not absolute and the SC both conservative and liberal have upheld limitations on rights for over a hundred years.

Your point is very well taken. What I'll say is that, as you observe, arms[rifles] are mentioned and so there obviously can't be as much debate in that regard. Should a license be required, IDK... ok, maybe. Leave that hassle to the state.

OTOH, abortion per se is not mentioned and so it's much more difficult to come up w/ an argument from whole cloth.

You say "Why is it ok to lock into strict reading when convenient but adapt to modern day when it is convenient?"... but it's not a matter of convenience, it's a matter of degree. There is nothing in the constitution that says anything about abortion so that logic becomes much more convoluted.

Perhaps it's time to add an amendment, IDK. I'll defer to the process, supreme court, and rule of law because I''m not a radical.

You asked what kind of arms should be allowed, I said ask the state. You asked should abortion be allowed, I said ask the state. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. The 10th amendment, fortunately, is clear on this.
